Ali. The 1967 Ali was the best heavyweight ever IMHO. I'd have loved to have seen the 1969 version....

I'd have to go with Ali because of the intangibles, but Tyson matches up very well with him. The key is Tyson's handspeed; Ali would not be able to simply lean back while his opponent telegraphed a punch. The late 80s Tyson would have starched the mid-70s and later Ali.

But in this scenario, I'm going Ali by clear, competitive UD.

OK I embellished...I knew youd show up like always:D But I saw absolute prime Tyson kept at bay by a Grandad Holmes (Great Great fighter with a somewhat similar offense) Nowhere close the quickness of Ali besides the great jab.

Alot of people will say yeah he got KTFO (he did get careless proud guy that he is) But for a couple of rounds you saw a glimpse of a blueprint to derail Mike.

this would b an amazing fight i just think that ali woulda danced and jabbe alott at tyson...i think a point 2 make would b that how does the fight happen does tyson come up and fight ali or does ali come through the ranks 4 mike(i think physchology could play apart with this 1...you couldnt get a word in between alis poetry and mike telling every1 he wants 2 fight fight fight and destruct the world, did ali have kids at this stage?)...i think most times ali outpoints tyson over 12 rounds (very close fight till th 7th ali wins 8 9 10 11 and tyson 12 in al last hurrah) ithink over 15 ali "could" knock mike out...but gee what wouldnt you cut off 2 sit ringside at this 1?..

That version of Tyson is the only fighter I'd ever give even a chance of beating that version of Ali so yeah this would be the greatest match-up ever.

I voted Ali, but 20-23 year old Tyson was capable of beating anyone in history in my opinion....Ali wins it due to his great chin and mental edge. If he got careless or stupid at any point in the fight though Tyson is more than capable of ending it.

i feel that tyson wont be out speed by much and does every thing right

yes tyson was shorter yes ali can move and is extremely skilled but tyson is not limited and was not one dimensional at the time.

fight can play out 3 ways ali boxing and out manuvering tyson to a split decsion win

    or tyson wins

tyson does everything better then frazier with the exception of the left hook although ali was coming off a layoff he did fight QUARRY BUT THATS NIETHER HERE NOR THERE TYSON BY KO IN 13 IN A HELLA OF A FIGHT I COULD ALSO SEE TYSON WINNING A SD BUT I'LL GO WITH THE KO THIS WOULD BE THE TRUE FIGHT

SO I'LL STICK WITH THE LATTER SCENERIO AND GO WITH MY BOY iron MIKE

Muhammad Ali by close, but clear decision. Over 12, probably 8 to 4.

A prime Tyson may well have been ****ing Cleveland Williams, if the rumours are correct.

Yep, pretty much what I said, only more articulate. Ali wins this fight more often than not, too skilled and too mentally strong to be intimidated. Ali's jab would do a LOT of damage too, look how angular Tyson is around the eyes - I just believe Ali would rip that skin up with his jab. He probably doesn't have the power to stop a prime Tyson but he'd put him in a world of hurt.

I think that is an extreme position. Ali wasn't unbeatable, and some other greats could have pushed him.

I also believe that any version of Tyson is in big trouble against prime Lennox Lewis. Lewis had not only the physical attributes and skill, he had the cool mental disposition to weather the storm and wait his turn to dish out punishment.

But more to the point, this Tyson/Ali matchup would be the most compelling in the history of boxing in terms of public interest.

Thoug I bang on the Williams fight occasionally, it's worth remembering that Williams was shot - literally and figureativly - and that rule #1 with Ali is, don't let him do it. Williams was incapable.

What I love most about the fight, actually, is how quickly Ali realises what he has on his hands and changes plans to KILL

    Fearsome.
