He was a better version however, still way past his prime. Oscar was at his best at his lightweight elterweight days. Anything post middleweight attempt is not a prime De a Hoya i'm afraid

Both have cherry picked a decent amount. I say its about equal. Fighting each other would help settle it for me.

Yes. In fact a vast majority of his posts are nothing to do with Pacquiao and his posts are generally very balanced and well thought out

Pac's resume is absolutely stacked, Floyd gets by on H2H greatness which is theoretical.

How does the gap close if he beats Ortiz? As of now, Ortiz hasn't really done anything except prove to us that Berto is a B-class fighter. Floyd beating him will do nothing for his resume. Ortiz is a tune up for Floyd as far as I'm concerned.

I do agree that if Floyd beats Pac, he will edge Pac because that would be a pretty damn big trophy his mantle.

People over compensate for Pacquiao's wins over Clottey, Margarito, Hatton, and DLH IMO.

None of those wins were particularly impressive to me. It was "expected." DLH looked finished, and I knew Hatton would lose by decapitation. Clottey was never anything special and same goes for Margarito.

Just my opinion, but I feel Pacquiao's team has been cherry picking since 2008. I got him and Floyd about even.

Who has Floyd beaten at 140 better than Hatton or at 147 better than Clottey?

Ok *******s, well answer me this...

    - Has Pacquiao been beaten before?
    - Has Pacquiao been knocked out before?
    - Has Floyd Mayweather been knocked out?
    - Has Floyd Mayweather ever lost?

    ...Ok then!

[My lame attempt at a ***** response]

Shane Mosley and Zab Judah accomplished more at 147 than Clottey has. Yes, Zab lost to Clottey, but Judah was also the lineal 147 champ at one time as well. Clottey caught him after a tough fight with Cotto and Zab looked a little shop worn at 147. Even Carlos Baldomir accomplished more as a welterweight than Clottey has. Clottey is not, and has never been a dangerous fighter. In fact, Clottey had 1 KO in his previous 11 fights before fighting Pacman.

Hatton was finished and everybody who watched his fight with Lazcano knew it. That version of Ricky Hatton gets blasted by the version of Arturo Gatti that had a title at 140. Shoot, I don't think Ricky would have done well with Gatti back then either. There was a reason they put Hatton in with Malignaggi after Lazcano, and I can assure you it wasn't because Paulie was so darn good and a threat.

And before you attempt to bring up Margarito, Floyd's win over Oscar at 154 shits all over Margarito at a catchweight.

Cotto is really the only man you can say, and the reality is Bob Arum is on record stating he kept Cotto away from Mayweather. Not the other way around.

Like I said: Both fighters have done a fair share of cherry picking during their careers. They are about equal right now.

Yes, that is the **** response. There's also educated responses if you care to read them and realize this thread about two of the best fighters the past decade has merit.

Because since beating clottey pac hasn't improved upon his resume neither.

Like it or not ortiz is currently the second best ww in the world. Plus he's southpaw, young, powerful has shown he can come back from a loss and could go on to do great things. Hence I see ortiz as an improvement hence it closes the gap.

The only clear cherrypick in my opinion is mosley, big mistake on their part, you could make a case for margarito as well.
Hatton was already pacs target for 140 and a fight many people tought would be very even after diaz, however Oscar cherrypicked pac, you can still look that one up in threads from back then, everyone hating on Oscar, pac being a big underdog and nobody gave him a chance.
check this video out from back then:

Cotto and hatton both had a very good chance vs pac according to the boxingfans here, see the threads for the opinion back then. Its just viewed badly upon in hindsight.
Ever since cotto the only guy left is mayweather, all the other opponents will be critisized.
