Sure it was. Not ground breaking but Berto was the #3 WW in the world @ that time - so it was a legit win for Ortiz...

Using your logic, Cotto and Mosley are not "proven" Welters...

I have no problem with Ortiz as a choice of opponent. I think he's far better opponent then most of the guys Floyd has foguht at the weight. My point was to underline the fact taht Floyd has spent a lot of time at 147 not fighting proven 147 pounders. It's a legit point. Ortiz may very well end u pbeing a good welterweight, but he's only had one fight at the weight - a fight where he was knocked down twice and looked very vulnerable. It was still a good showing though.

You lose me here. I think Ortiz would get squashed by Mosley, even a shot Mosley, and Clottey is a far better, more experienced fighter then Ortiz. Ortiz is b-level and has a lot of experience left to gain. He'd only beat Marquez because of the size difference. Margo would squash him as well. Cotto (the one that pac fought) would have outclassed him.

and cotto was the #2 welter at the time when pac fought him when welterweight was on the tail end of being the best division of boxing. so you think cotto is not a legit WW win for pac since it was not fought at WW limit of 147 right?

Facing Clottey Margo and Mosley is embarrassing. This is how good PAC has become. I remember watching Hatton versus Floyd and the first three rounds all of us were saying If PAC fights Hatton he'd get killed. We Know what happened. Then we saw Clottey fighting Cotto and we all said These two guys will really kill PAC no doubt. Well, we know what happened. Even the thought of PAC fighting Margo and Mosley around 2008 sounds really absurd but now beating these guys has become embarrassing for PAC. WTF's happening to this world. :patsch

Mosley isn't squashing anything. Mosley hasn't won a fight since in early 2009. He's 2-2-1 in his last 5 fights (Against good opposition, though). Mosley had trouble squashing Mayorga 3 years ago. He did take out a perfect style opponent in Margo. The Mosley of now would get out-worked by Ortiz. I agree he needs to gain experience. He has defensive holes and gets reckless, but he would still beat Mosley. I didn't mention Cotto because that was the best performance/fight from Pac since his WW debut.

Margo looked like **** against Garcia. Got destroyed by Pac, and Mosley. Who knows what he is now. He merely is bigger and more durable than Ortiz. Ortiz is far more of a boxer and more of a threat. The Cotto-Margo fight might tell us more. But both guys are past it.

 Yeah it's funny isn't it. Pac has made some of the best fighters out there look like chumps. Everybody wasnt giving pac a chance a long time ago now they say he handpicked all of them. It's amazing.

In the end tho, history will remember pac as making great accomplishments and he'll be ranked very highly among the ATG's. History will not be kind to Floyd at all. That's all that matters in the end.
