because ortiz is clearly the second best active fighter in the division despite never having fought at the full limit.

this means that a victory for floyd would be brilliant imo as it's against the best available opponent.

reading between the lines it means that catchweights don't degrade the quality of the victory, should they be sanctioned for the belt? not imo, but historically it has always been the case and therefore I'm inclined to renege on my original default viewpoint.

Baldomir was the *lineal* welterweight champion. Cotto has *never* held that title.

    Baldomir > Cotto

please, don't do this to yourself.

please god say you don't rate leon spinks above norton?

or how about in 96, who was rated higher, foreman or tyson?

    No.

I don't recall the exact sequence of events - but - if the Pacquiao Cotto fight came after Mosley Margarito then there is NO argument to be made for rating Cotto over Mosley.

    None.

Cotto may have gotten the decision but he never *beat* Mosley and there are quite of few people who thought Mosley should have got the nod.

Anyhow, everyone who wasn't biased had Mosley ranked either as the legitimate champion @ 147 or the #1 contender after the Margarito fight.

cotto did beat mosley. clear 7-5.

I had mosley number 1, but considering a 15 month layoff, whilst in the meantime cotto beat clottey (top 5 WW), there is a valid argument.

    Facts are facts.

Baldomir was the legitimate *lineal* champion @ 147lbs.

Cotto has *never* held that title. Not @ 140, 147, or even 154.

just like to reitterate this point because naysayers hatred of floyd is ridiculous.

ortiz is the second best active WW on the planet.

    lineal championship isn't everything.

Norton never held it but between 76 and 78 he was the best HW on the planet.

comebcak tyson never held it, but after beating bruno and seldon in 3 rounds he was clearly above foreman.

Only in the mind of a Pinoy nut gulping *******.

Beating Clottey on a SD in another fight where many in the sport felt the wrong guy got the decision does not elevate Cotto over Mosley. Not in the real world @ least. Who the **** was Clottey and who had he ever beaten? Nobody and nobody.

Please take your head out of your ass.

Charlie Burley never won the welterweight title(Or any title).

    By your logic.

    Baldomir>Burley.

clottey had beaten judah you know the guy that makes baldomir this great WW.

the fight was very close between cotto and clottey, first time I watched it I had clottey 114-113. most recent time I had cotto 114-113.

how did you score the fight? let me guess, you didn't.

but as I said, again, I had mosley number 1. considering his inactivity and cotto's victory over clottey you can't really rule cotto out neither.

    Please stop smoking crack.

Foreman had the KO over Morrer.

That EASILY trumps anything Tyson has done post prison.

You're honestly gonna rate Tyson over the reigning HW champion based on victories over Bruce Seldon and Frank Bruno?

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Them must be some goooood drugs you smoking over there...
