Cotto got the decision but he did NOT beat Shane and Clottey.

Some of you are ridiculous.. Cotto Alone is miles above everyone that Floyd has ever fought at 147.

Cotto beats Baldomir bad , Cotto already destroyed Judah, Mitchell? Lol.... Ortiz beats a hypejob and gets knocked down twice doing so. The Cotto that lost to PAC would destroy heartless and chinless Ortiz.

Even Clottey was way too much for Judah.

Can't remember seeing as it's been a while since I've seen either fight. However, I definitely thought Clottey got Brinks Jobbed and I thought the decision in the Mosley fight could have gone either way.

One thing is for sure, Shane had Cotto running for dear life in the late rounds...

Lol , his win against Shane was close but clear. There are no more than 5 rounds that could have gone to Shane, and thats being generous. Go watch the fight man , and get out of here with your bias crap.

Clottey maybe beat Cotto, it was close and Clottey did nothing in the last few rounds.

    Miles ahead of Shane?

If so then why did Shane have Cotto running like a scolded dog in the late rounds?

Lol open your eyes man... Ignorant posts like this just show that you know nothing about boxing . Go rewatch the fight ... Judah was getting destroyed , he had 1 good round , and Clottey still blocked 90% of his punches.

What's clear is that Shane was handling Cotto in the second half of that fight.

On what basis? That Baldomir's best win was against an over-rated Zab Judah? If you take into account the 'lineal' champion then you are utterly missing the point as to what makes a win a good win. Any belt or lineal status is simply a side note in what determines the quality of a fight. If you don't understand that lineal champion IS NOT directly correlated with the quality of a fighter, then you have severe problems that are going to cloud your ability to judge a fighter. Do you know that Baldomir had lost or drawn more than 30% of his fights when he face Mayweather?

What was Baldomir's second best win? Gatti?! He was 34 years old brawler who was utterly shot. Who was Baldomir's third best win? I don't know if he even has one, all the rest of his fights are so far below world standard that they aren't even worth mentioning. Baldomir may actually be the worst lineal champion ever. Hence beating him is merely for the title, and not for the quality of win.

No, at the very most, not the very least. The ONLY thing Baldomir had was a meaningless lineal status.

Cotto's resume is far better than Baldomir's.

What has Baldomir ever done other than lose thirteen times, get KO'ed twice, draw six times? The lineal title as explained above is pretty much irrelevant. It's nice to tell your grandchildren, but it doesn't make you a better fighter than someone who didn't win it, and it doesn't make your resume better. Only the fighters you fought matter, and Cotto fought and beat better fighters than Baldomir, and also managed to avoid losing 13 times whilst doing so.

just too summise naysayer's opinions expressed today:

ortiz hasn't yet won a WW fight.
cotto got gifts against mosley and clottey
judah was up on the cards at the time of the stoppage against clottey
    baldomir > burley + langford
briggs was the best HW in the world when he got a gift against foreman.

    for **** sake man.

Miles ahead of everyone except Shane , but still won a clear decision against Shane.

Do you honestly think Mayweather has a better resume at 147 than PAC? You nitpick little flaws in Pacs opponents , yet you aren't bringing Anything up about Mitchell, Baldomir, Judah or Hatton at 147.

This just goes to show how bias you are .

Judah was the #1 welterweight in the world @ that time.

Can Cotto say that he's beaten the top guy in any division he's competed in?

    No.
