Mosley before he became an AARP member. A true welter like Cotto or Margo instead of the 140 pound Hatton, an actual welter instead of a lightweight JMM, pre-plaster Cotto instead of the shopworn one..........

Baldomir, Mitchell, Ortiz and Marquez to a certain degree were hand picked opponents, the rest were good to very good opponents.

 

put it in context and see who was fighting during all those years he handpicked those guys. Pacman, Margarito,Williams. Martinez.

 

People seem to forget about the alleged torn rotator cuff that Floyd had during that first fight.

 

Guerrero -- cherry pick
Cotto -- should have taken place when the Hatton (140 pounder) happened. Shopworn but still good.
Ortiz -- not bad.
Mosley -- happened several years too late, but Mosley was ranked at the time
JMM -- total farce. Fighting a lightweight then blowing the catch weight.
Hatton -- taken over several legitimate welters. Cherry pick
Oscar -- career defining fight. Oscar wasn't prime, but still servicable.
Baldomir -- cherry pick
Judah -- good fight at the time. I was excited about this one.
Mitchell -- pretty solid fight, but there were better options at the time.

 

There is nothing wrong with the guys you have listed, Floyd has a great resume but it could be so much better.

Look at the guys you have listed and think how many of these fight were the ones you really wanted to see at the time. I can only see two: Mosley and to a much lesser extent Oscar

 

Carlos Monzon cherrypicked all of the ranked contenders at middleweight as well.
