    ****** alert.

If you asked Usain Bolt to drop 7lbs, he probably would not of medalled at the Olympics.

We are talking about lean in condition athletes here, they are only eating into muscle if..? they decide to lose the weight gradually. They would have to change their nutritional intake, and would not be able to train at the intensity as they did before so..? in the long term it affects their performance.

Ohhh and then there comes the weigh in.

Dehydrating themselves, losing immense amount of minerals which help your cells function. If your cells can't function optimal, you are endangering your health.

Its why allot of boxers age badly, because they are constantly draining their bodies of vital nutrients. Cells die, and they become shot very early in life compared to other sports.

Floyd Mayweather is no Bernard Hopkins when it comes to diet. But its a known fact that he is does not weight drain himself or live on a restricted diet.

Floyd Mayweather physically looks younger than Adrian Broner, looks younger than Guerrero why..? because he is not a ******.

You go ahead and drop 14 pounds off your normal weight and see how you feel. Most fighters are already drained to the limit in the weight class they usually compete in and Alvarez is no exception. He probably walks around in the 160'ies and getting down to 154 is enough of an effort.

Whoa I wonder how Showtime feels about this. They thought they were paying a record guarantee for competitive and sellable fights.

Martinez is considered a small mw who said himself he would move down to 154 to face Floyd.

Agreed, then Alvarez can come in over the limit & not allow SHO to weigh him on fight night.

Saul couldn't even make the catchweight with Hatton years ago.

    No way he's making 147.

I have been following the negotiations closely.....Team Canelo appear to want the fight, who to be honest who doesn't want to fight Floyd.

I personally have been a fan of Cotto but he is coming off two loses and while he is a marquee name in boxing, fans are calling for Mayweather vs Canelo and with Mayweather only having 5 slots left I don't think he should be an option for Canelo - you are either the heir to the throne or not!

Now comes the weight issue, I don't think Canelo should be required to come down to 147lbs Ive said it so many times Floyd has held the 154lbs belt twice and I would be surprised if Floyd requested that (but time will tell), Team Canelo have put this out there and it may well be true but Im not sure how that helps in the negotiation process?

I know people are quick to jump on Floyd without hearing both sides of the story.....

Also Team Canelo seem to be very interested in Cotto, issuing statements saying he is a big threat seems somewhat counterproductive if you want to fight the best then surely you should come out and say that?

I hope the fight gets made, I dont know why battle lines have been drawn between the fans certainly at this stage especially as there ins't alot of real information available but no doubt fans from both sides will go too far with their insults in the mean time lol!

    Lets discuss.....

Is this a serious question? It's not like Canelo is making 154 easy, he cuts down nearly twenty pounds already! 7 more is a huge difference.

Then he should fight at a much heavier weight class if he is destroying his body trying to make 154

Call it what you want...but Mayweather is the straw that stirs the drink...all paths lead to MONEY Mayweather. Everyone knows he's not a real 154 lber and being 36 years old he should fight in his comfort zone which is 147. He has NOTHING to prove so if you want to fight him...Canelo, Sergio...Khan, Garcia, Matthyse...you gotta come to 147 and that's the bottom line.

I'm sure Floyd would be shocked to know, he believes Canelo is at his best there
