Personally I don't see it in Floyd, but that isn't anything

The guy works hard and has the genetics too

The way he fights and his breaks/retirements etc have all added to his longievety

It would be absolutely amazing if he was the champion of cleaning up the sport and then got caught......I don't think he is that stupid , but then again anything is possible with all humans who make mistakes and ain't perfect

He's not 'TBE' but he's a certifiable ATG that belongs within the top 20 ATG (and he's still active, who knows where he will end up once he retires).

People talk about his '0' as not being anything special, but when you consider the fact that he's done it across 5 weight divisions, winning 10 world titles, fought over 20 current, former and future world champions (over half of his fights) and other than Castillo has won all those fights by margins of not less than 116-112 (i.e. comfortable, dominant victories). His resume is truly astounding.

I know he gets a lot of flak on this forum, but his accomplishments speak for themselves (although I'm sure a casuals will pick apart what I'm about to say, event though the same can be said for ANY boxer in history)

    1. Dela Hoya - ATG (World champ coming off a destruction of then world champ Ricardo Mayorga, and considered top 2-3 at 154)

    2. Shane Mosley - ATG (World champ, ranked no. 1 at 147 and p4p no 3, coming off a destruction of Antonio Margartio)

    3. Miguel Cotto - HOF (World champ, ranked no.1 at 154, coming off an impressive revenge and domination of Antonio Margarito)

    4. Juan Manual Marquez - HOF (World champ, ranked no.1 at 135, p4p top 10, coming off an impressive destruction of Juan Diaz, apart of a huge rivalry with Manny, and despite being dominated and supposably not in the best shape, went on to beat Pac 2 times at WW (despite the score for fight 3). Controversy regarding the 144 catchweight, but still a WW fight nonetheless)

    5. Corrales - Possible HOF (The top dog at 130, p4p top 10, undefeated, power in both hands, went on to win numerous world titles after - and was absolutely destroyed)

    6. Castillo - Possible HOF (The top dog at 135, coming off 2 "wins" (one a controversial draw) over Stevie Johnston. Close fight, overrated robbery given that he gave away at least 4 of the first 5 rounds, and despite what detractors say, is the only fighter in his resume that gave him a 'close-ish' fight, immediately revenged)

    7. Ricky Hatton - Possible HOF (World champ at 140, undefeated, p4p top 5, impressive win over Kostya)

    8. Genero Hernandez - Possible HOF (World champ at 135, great career, experience over a 20 month pro in his 18th fight, anybody who doesn't respect him needs to watch his career set. Absolute destruction)

    9. Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez - Potentially future of the sport (World champ at 154, recognised as the number 1 in the divisions and the number threat to Floyd. Was absolutely dominated).

    10. Zab Judah - Probably not HOF, but you never know with how many people get in ("World champ" at 147, on the streak of his career with a very impressive performance against Cory Spinks in the rematch, followed by a disappointing performance against Carlos Baldomir (although his mind was focused on Floyd, methinks). Contract was signed before the Baldomir fight anyways. Put on the fight of his life (who wouldn't when facing Mayweather?), despite being soundly beaten after those first 4 rounds where he won 2 maybe 3 rounds).

    11. Arturo Gatti - HOF (World champ on the best streak of his career, 2 time world champ in total. Blood and guts warrior, hyped fight - but one of the most destructive performances you'll see in the modern era).

Add guys like Jesus Chaves (future world champ), Carlos Hernandez (future world champ), Demarcos Corley (former world champ), Carlos Baldomir (number 1 WW at the time), Victor Ortiz (world champ, coming off a great win over Andre Berto) and Robert Guerrero (2 time world champ, interim WW champ coming off a win over Andre Berto)

All that while losing no more than 3 rounds, 4 at the max (bar Castillo, who he gave an immediately rematch), spanning five divisions and remaining UNDEFEATED - never been seen before.

And his skills speak for themselves.

While I don't personally care, but doing this all the while making 100's of millions of dollars.

There MUST be some form of kudos.

This was originally posted in the "It's a shame people say Mayweather is the best ever!" thread - must have been moved during my post.

Not sure my post is a 'whine', but understand that all Floyd/Pac threads should (although some don't) get moved to this thread.

Anyhow, I suppose this thread also falls under the "Mayweather should get his due" threads.

I understand this forum is 90% Pac fans, and my post will not go down well with them, but I'm certainly not trying to spark arguments.

I could do an in depth analysis of Pac's career, and it would be just as positive.

It just seems that this forum, unlike most other forums, have a strong hatred for Floyd (which seems a bit weird, because most are Pac fans, and yet there are more Floyd posts then Pac posts).

What you call "natural skills" takes thousands of hours in the gym to develop and perfect.

Anything that can keep you in the gym longer/more often gives you the opportunity to develop those skills more than you would if you weren't taking anything.

    Talent's God-given, skills are man-made. :deal

    Thanks.

I'm certainly not on any of those 'Floyd' or 'Pac' bandwagons, cause I love and respect both fighters. True ATG's of our eras (which I suppose, means I'm on BOTH bandwagons).

Am happy for those Pac fans or perhaps people who dislike Floyd, to write up a similar breakdown on Pac's career.

Props on the breakdown. We're lucky to see two caliber of fighters like this as their careers unwind. Banter between both sides is cool and all, but both Floyd and Pac deserve all the accolades they get. Truly exceptional fighters. :deal

Excellent post that will likely be ignored by Floyd's detractors, or responded to with a couple of sentences and some smilies.

    :deal

It's a shame things have ended up the way they have, with both sets of fans doing the best they can to downgrade these modern day greats.

    Thanks again.

I'm happy for it to be ignored, I'm didn't post it for attention.

But I hope it doesn't disintegrate into that.

As above, both are legitimate ATG's who we are lucky to witness in their primes and at the tail end of their careers.

And would be more then happy to do a breakdown on Pac's incredible resume, as already offered.

Mayweather the best in the past 10 years?

But people will always question his resume because of Manny Pacquiao.

I guess every resume can be considered cherry picking at some point but damn, what he did to Alvarez.. that was a schooling and give credit but @ 152 he loses abit of credit there.

Should Mayweather move up to 160 and beat the champions there, he should easily break the ATG Top 25?

Mayweather is easily the best of the past 10 years and is already Top 10 ATG

    He's already top 20

Anyways, if he loses credit with Alvarez then Pac should also lose credit with Cotto. Amiright?

He should fight Pac, he has nothing more to prove.

    Let's hope it happens.

    Martinez 160 no.

I would tend to agree except....he has so far skipped the most important fight of his career
the odds, if anything, have swayed in his favor over the past 4 years...but 'no pacman, no accolades'

not in the way Floyd expects

His resume is still not at the level of Pacquiao's.
