The "All Things Mayweather/Pacquiao" Express!!!!!!

I know there are more than enough Floyd-Manny threads in here, but this one isn't intended to be a moaning outlet. I actually want to learn something here.

A poster in another thread said something interesting: Manny is fighting Bradley instead of taking advantage of his mandatory status and pushing for a fight with Mayweather. Since I don't know the rules of governing bodies regarding mandatories, I have some questions:

1) Has Manny lost his mandatory status now that he has taken a fight with Bradley?

2) Why hasn't Pacquiao used his mandatory status to make the fight? It seems to be a win-win situation. If Floyd agrees, he gets the fight. If Floyd refuses and relinquishes the belt, it would let future generations know who ducked who. In other words, it would protect his legacy on this issue.

3) Since Floyd has multiple belts and only 4 fights left, could he both refuse to fight Pacquiao and keep his belt (WBC 147) by saying he has to fulfill the obligations that comes with his other belts (WBA 154 & WBC 154)? If not, are there other loopholes that Floyd could use to keep his belt without fighting Pacquiao?

never mind paq walking away from the fight before the WBC gifted him te fight and he STILL walked away from the fight

sux you cant argue or dispute the facts. give 1 thing floyd did to stop the fight , that you can back up. you cannot give i condition where floyd walked away or ignored the fight.

they GAVE paq the fight and he did NOTHING, all he can do is look lik a fool on videos fooling the fools into thinking he wants it

I haven't seen or heard about Pac speaking to May, but ok it doesn't matter. Like, I said who the hell would accept a 40 million of a 200 mil or 300 mil possible revenue?

 

If they fight and beat the same guys then the impact on their legacy is not the same. Pacquiao is several divisions smaller than Mayweather so doing the same thing is that much more impressive. To have the same kind of impact, Mayweather would have to move up as much in weight as Pacquiao has and accomplish similar things.

Kudos to Mayweather for beating Alvarez though. I'd love to see Pacquiao get into the ring against him now and see what he could do. Stylistically however, I think Alvarez is a much tougher fight for Pacquaio than Mayweather even with the size advantages. It would be equivalent to Mayweather taking on Andre Ward.

Isn't the mandatory 75/25 or some ridiculous split?

I was wrong, it's up to the board and can be 50-50 if the market value of the fighters are equal. I get why Bob bought it now.

Pac should not accept a $40million offer I agree, but Pac knowing the buisness could of had his manager or some one try to negotiate the fight. Instead he hung up & that was the end. Everybody that becomes a Mandatory pushes for the fight...How come pac didnt?? NO EXCUSES!! So people need to stop yapping about how come Mayweather is so scared, WBC pratically gave him the belt and he didnt take it.

Pac is at fault here people. from all the "My promoter makes my fights" to no random testing but u do it for Rios! Dont people see a pattern???

 

This is true. i have mostly felt floyd was at fault for the fight not happening. However, i don't understand why manny didn't enforce his mandatory if really wanted to fight floyd.
