That's what I thought, too. Its like "How will it impact Floyd's legacy if he retires without fighting Rod Salka?"

You can't possibly be remembered as the best of an era...much less All-Time if you don't face the best available opposition. What would Ali be without Frazier/foreman/Liston. Leonard without hearns/Hagler/duran. Robinson without basilio/fuller/gavilian/lamotta. Even Manny had morales/Barrera/Marquez. Etc.

Floyd will be remembered as a great attraction, a prodigy, & boxing virtuoso...but he didn't fight the best...so he wasn't the best. Similar to Roy Jones.

    i'm neither ***** nor *******.

the pac/floyd fight became useless after pac/jmm3 imo. then pac/jmm4 made it less than useless.

i have zero enthusiasm to see the fight at this point.

i'm waiting for algieri to beat pac so that ppl stop talking about him...and more than likely i will be boycotting floyds fight if it's against khan. there are far too many other matches in boxing that are waaaaay more interesting to me than pac/floyd. fcuk them both.

doesnt really matter about khan , even though id respect him more, but not fighting pacquio really makes him seem a cherry picker and hangs over his whole career

FMJ: One of the best of his generation but for the second half of his career avoided the dangerous fights. He will always be remembered for awesome skills but also for not making the fights he should have. And woman beating.

His record puts him in the top ten ATG, even if he's accused of cherry picking, its still an accompishment that shouldn't be overlooked. But realistically, he won't be considered TBE except to his die hard followers. A fighters legacy is cemented by who his opponents were and the wars he has been in. You can argue that he was so good that he made all his opponents look amateurish but that only makes him look bad for not fighting Pacquiao. Now we can debate endlessly as to why they didnt fight 5 yrs ago but it would be pointless. What matters is the present. Although the fight has lost a lot of steam, it's still something we fans and more importantly casual fight fans would like to see. Its obvious that Manny wants the fight, irregardless of his motives, its clear he wants it. Floyd is the boss, he makes the decisions, Pac has no bargaining power whatsoever so Floyd calls all the shots. If the fight doesn't happen before either of them retire then its all on Floyd, and THAT will hurt his legacy and that will prove he's ducking.
