I am talking about the rematch with Maidana, not the first fight. None of the listed fighters have lost to Mayweather. You said yourself that Maidana didn't win any more than 3 or 4 rounds in the first fight. Why would any reasonable person think he would do any better in the rematch? I don't think anyone at 147 will beat Mayweather but at least let's get some fresh meat in there.

Pac could be a 100 years old and still beat Algieri.

I wouldnt have minded seeing some fresh meat as well, but like I said Maidana gave Floyd the best fight for years, I don't think it was a terrible choice. Floyd would dismantle Brook, Porter, Thurman, and Alexander with ease, at most he loses 2 rounds.

I would have rather seen him dismantle them than hypothesize about it. I thought Cotto gave Mayweather a tougher fight than Maidana did in the first fight but imo, there is no way a second fight was worth me paying to see it. I didn't find the first Maidana fight all that enthralling.

When you said he was gonna fight a guy who lives in his parents basement, I thought you were talking about MVC. I would have paid to see that

I voted no. I rarely buy PPVs anymore, they've gotten too expensive. They are usually over 80 bucks in my area after taxes and the b.s. high def premium. It's just too expensive. Wasn't there a huge recession recently? If this fight is 70 bucks vs Algerie I guess a Pacquiao / Mayweather fight will top 100! Are boxing fans okay with this? Both are past there best.

They have gotten so expensive in fact that many boxing fans rely on their friends who barely follow the sport to subsidize the purchase and usually ends up with several disappointed guests due to the fight not living up to the hype. I guess that's one way to build viewership. I'm sure the promoters would agree that it's far easier and more profitable than providing a quality product.

I think that it is very possible that sometime around 2008/2009, these two had a meeting, with Al Haymon, Oscar, Arum, and network heads present, and they decided that they would make a sh@tload of money fighting other opponents, knowing that the demand for them to fight would only grow, and there individual purses would increase with a showdown always on the horizon. 6 years later, most fans still wants to see Mayweather-Pacquiao, and both fighters have made record breaking purses. Boxing will manipulate the public for a financial gain every time. I honestly think that all of this was thought out and choreographed. The people who work with manny and Floyd have hugely profited off of these two NOT fighting each other, as have both fighter.
