Holyfield was just THAT guy to me. I revere the man. I used to try and immitate Evander's bounce on the step and rhythm. I think his all round skills are underrated. Brillient footwork, he could fight inside, outside, underrated dig, incredible chin, the greatest will to win i've EVER seen in the sport and an awesome resume. Let me sum up the attitude of Evander Holyfield. On his debut he was scheduled to face a guy who didn't have a winning record, the usual knock over stiff. He told Lou Duva. I'm better than that and i want a challenge in my coming out party. So he faced a man who was 10-1. On his debut. Evander knocked a mans head off in the olympics and got disqualified. He knew his identity, his mind, his strengths. One of the greatest things i've ever seen from a young fighter is what a young, green Holyfield did against an underrated killer in Qawi in their first fight. My goodness, talk about behaving like a fighter in a 15 round war. My favourite shot of Evanders was the short left he use to throw with such precision. I remember he dropped granite chinned Ray Mercer with this shot for the first time in his career. I remember he dropped Riddick Bowe for the first time in his career, IIRC. With a short crisp left hook. The mans timing and precision could be deadly. Holyfield is 'life and death' with ANY heavyweight. And he beats ANYONE 190lbs and below in history. When Evander started smirking and bouncing you knew the opponent had to kill him to win. What a man. One word is enough to sum up Evander Holyfield. WARRIOR! I get emotional talking about him. Whatever 'dodgy stuff' he may have done, i don't care. He will always be THAT guy to me.
Go for it, mate. You've summed him up pretty well technically the times i've seen you comment on it. Just keep that haterade in check...
