Yeah, that's interesting, Bill. Sometimes fighters just tend to bull**** when asked those type of questions. But Glenn is not the sort to BS.

Chad has undoubted talent. Just the wrong head on the right body though.

 

The thing is though. For the most part. i think he knows what he's doing. IMHO he's conciously being dirty when he's going low. It happens too many times for it to be a coincidence. I think Mares knows how bad a low blow can affect an opponent. That video of him on that programme when he was younger is very telling. They explained to him how and why low blows are so debilitating and i can assume from that he knows what he's doing. As SPB says, it's not like he tries to disguise it either. At least Barrera and Pedroza were sly and cunning with it.

 

Tbh. I don't think Dawson likes fighting. I think he does it because he can and because his father pushed him into it. But i get the impression that he would rather be doing something else.

 

I never called him a 'scumbag'. I'm actually a fan of his. And if you were around on this site in about 2009 you will remember me hyping this kid up. But it's just my opinion that he's intentionally dirty. I don't see much wrong with roughouse tactics but intentional low blows are below the belt (no pun intended). I actually admire fighters who can incorporate some roughhouse tactics and use it to their advantage. It's up to the opponent to raise hell. You can admit a fighter is dirty, and still be a fan.

 

How anyone who has seen his fights can think he's an innocent party is beyond me. I'm a fan of Mares but that first Agbeko fight was disgusting and left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't mind roughhouse tactics but he was being clearly and intentionally illegal and he new the ref wouldn't say anything to him. That's why he was so blatant.

I also want to point something else out in that fight, which sickened me. Agbeko’s corner did him a MASSIVE disservice. They should have been ALL over the referee. I also think Agbeko did himself a disservice. There is no way he should have allowed a man to tee off on his groin like that and not do the same in return. Most fighters who break the rules whether knowingly or unknowingly, don’t enjoy when the same rules are broken against them. Some of the best fighters you will ever see are rule stretchers. If the ref is not going to stop them, then freaking do it back to them and see how they like it. Agbeko is a man’s man, but he should have went low right back at Mares.

Mares has to be becareful. One of these days the chickens are ganna come home to roost...
