fighters today get so much money they can duck hard fights
if the weasel mayweather was fighting in the past he would of been forced to take challenging fights back then if you ducked you were not looked as a man

boxing is a top heavy sport from a financial perspective. only the elite fighters in certain weight divisions, and even then, only specific fighters within that elite, make millions or even hundreds of thousands. fighters do not make as much as they should compared to other sports and considering what fighters put on the line every time they step in the ring. on the flipside, fighters duck hard fights so they can maintain an undefeated record or low loss count, in an effort to one day step in the ring against the best, or at the very least be touted by a tv network as a potentially special talent (often times because of that undefeated record)

That's the weirdest thing about boxing.

It's always attracted a lot of low-income people without many other prospects, but it's one of the most financially unequal professions in existence.

well, boxing used to be a legitimate trade back in the day. now it's only a trade for a few, and fighters who aren't making top bracket money have to maintain full time positions in addition to being a fighter. even some of the guys we see on a regular basis work forty our weeks, like bryant jennings for example. also, it's always been more than just a financial "way out" so to speak.

Its unfair to say its only Floyd though.. Plenty of top fighters today had their fair share of cherry picks. May it be self preference/preservation or build up fights via the promoter.

In this game, nobody looks out for you, just ask those two convicted promoters eh. a writer called red smith, once said boxing is the red light of sports. This unforgiving sport has no trade union or pension scheme like other us sports right clown! This is why sharks like arum & king survived. They were nothing to mike trainer, Schaefer, haymon who understood there tactics!
