What do you mean by an anchor punch? All that comes up on youtube is the Sonny liston fight.

Lowering your weight allows you to temporarily anchor yourself into the ground and fortify your body structure allowing you to withstand a harder punch without being pushed around as you block.

The 'anchor' principle is fine, but as far as the punch goes, I think people should remember how controversial the fight is.

there's more to this punch than the controversy behind that one fight. I read somewhere that Jack Johnson taught this 'anchor' punch to Ali.

maybe....if you apply the corkscrew hook's elbow angle principle with anchoring [sitting on your punch] of your body...you could get some serious power on that **** even on a back pedal? I'm gonna fiddle with this one

It sounds like an over-mystification of what is already good punch mechanics. 'Sitting-down' on your punches is not a new concept.

i appreciate something productive in a response....one punch is straight up a piece of **** ....minimal knowledge. Seems you just want to get your post numbers up:good

hes saying that rooting is the over mystical terminology for sitting down on the punches.

but it's not. he's an *******..rooting yourself can be some chakra ****. or rooting yourself can be a million other things...mental, physically, or spiritual from what i've read up on, rooting yourself can open you to your surroundings. like an extra sense. or it can give you a solid base..with out sitting down to block or punch. it's very ****ing wierd and it's not just one thing. :blood
