I recall seeing an advertisement about it half a year ago, but haven't heard anything since. Supposedly it contained new interviews, etc. Anyone?
I actually went to the New York press conference where the promoters annocunced the doc with posters and saw much of the New York boxing press there .. Luis Resto was there as well .. there was a lot of weird feeling in the room as most felt Resto decided to come out and say he knew simply for a paycheck. He looked much the same as he did all those years ago, still trim with a full head of hair .. he is not a very intelligent guy. I remember him from years ago when I used to work out at the old Gleason's Gym a few blocks from Madison Square Garden ... I used to see him there all the time along with many other fighters as well ... That day he seemed to have very little remorse about the event and was more interested staring at and lusting after the few women at the event ... The film looked interesting and did receive press but I know first hand how difficult it is to get any form of distribution on a boxing doc without a monster hook or huge money behind it ... I would look for it's website and see if they announce any form of distribution deal ...
The documentary was produced by Eric Drath. It was released earlier this year. Here's the link to the website: http://www.theycametofight.com/index.html
What a rotten bloody act that was - read an article about it some time back - and yes Resto wouldn't have been the brightest boy in his school.
It's funny, the expression Resto has in the poster is exactly how he looks sitting around .. the guy is not all there ... he's a point above flat out slow ..
