After the fight is waved off, Bute takes one slow dead step to his corner and his cornerman MEETS him coming in, grabs him and pulls him back to the corner. Then Howard Grant went nuts on the ref and I completely lost track of what was going on
Grant would totally **** Larouche up.As a matter of fact they should have a triple threat for the IBF belt in a cage:Grant,Larouche and Wright(the ref):yep
Bute beat the count...I put my stop watch on it and he was up at 8...Was he in shape to fight on??? I would say no, however the ref knew that the fight was over and wouldnt have stopped the fight anyways, unless his name was richard steele...By the letter of the law the Ref did the right thing, Andrade was out of his corner and he stopped the count. Which is pointless anyways being that Bute beat the count and was only on the canvas for 8 seconds, the question is could he have fought on, which is pointless to discuss because as I stated no ref not named Steele would have stopped it at that point anyways. I was watching a high school football game and by the time that I got home the fight was over I check in here and was thinking man dude got robbed, then I watched and I was thinking Not really. Its clear that Andrade was not in his corner, its clear that Bute was up at 8. The only question is could he have fought on... And I for one see a rematch as pointless, Bute will improve from this and will react better if hurt again, and its clear that Andrade isnt good enough to win on points
Bute got up before 10, and it would be a judgment call at best without the controversey as to if Bute could continue or not. Andrade couldn't throw another punch. Bute went down with less than 5 second left in the fight.
....Which is irrelevant to my post. Richard Steele at least ASKED Meldrick Taylor how he was feeling and LOOKED at him. The ref didn't take the proper measures to gauge how spent Bute was.
I can't remember ever being bummed out because of the outcome of a fight, but this definitely happened tonight.
Good post. I disagree with the last paragraph. I don't know if Bute will improve, and Andrade doesn't have to win on points, he just has to win anyway he can. I agree with the rest of your post.
Yeah, but it still would've been a judgement call by the ref which is my point. Bute's fans will say he got up, and Andrade's fans will say he couldn't continue. The ref did mess up, and we all agree about that much. As far as Steele, he made a judgement call on a man who got up and because Steele didn't get an answer to a question he asked, he stopped the fight. This is boxing. Steele made a judgement call that people thought was a lousy call.
