What a statement that was. Overcame adversity once again. Something I’ve never seen Wilder or Fury do. That’s a better win than anything Wilder has on his resume. The power carries. He’s still not the finished article but he’s good. He will get better. Brilliant win.
He’s just ate massive shots from a much better boxer. That fight is a lot tougher than the Wilder one. Yes Wilder is more dangerous but Povetkin is 10x the better boxer.
Too many critics saying AJ is lucky that Poverkin was 39, but don’t forget this was only AJ’s 22nd fight and you saw him once again learning on the job and then get it done. Credit to the lad because when you become world heavyweight champion after just 15 fights there’s no hiding.
He only got that in his 15th because it wasn’t earned. Who the hell goes from a vacant British title fight straight into a world title against someone who’s being paid a fortune and falls over with the first shot. They bought a title early on that was their choice.
Absolutely agree with the Op here. Povetkin was the real deal in there tonight. He looked divert dangerous. Yes he's past his prime but still absolutely a dangerous operator and AJ rode some good shots and produced an excellent finish. Not sure how anybody can say wilder 100% bears him. Weird statement IMO. Wilder is a big puncher but in terms of pure boxing he is a level below povetkin. Personally I just think AJ WILDER is a great fight and needs to be made next, no excuses.
Good luck with this post mate. To many on here are to far up the overated Furys backside to give Joshua credit for anything..
But history will forever show that he DID get it in his (16th) fight and that his 22 fight resume already contains 7 world title fights and a big W against names like Whyte, Breazeale, Klitschko, Parker and Povetkin.
