Compubox stats claim Joshua outlanded Parker in 11 of 12 rounds. Kevin Barry gave 5 of the first 6 to Joshua. Claiming he dominated the first half of the fight. Barry has since come out and said that Parker didn't/couldn't implement their plan. Carlos Takam gave every round to Joshua claiming "It was too easy for Joshua". The New Zealand judge which Team Parker chose scored it the widest - Even Barry/Hitchens made reference to this when asked about whether they thought the scored were wide. You can't win a fight being on the back foot for 12 rounds and getting outlanded in 11 of them. Kevin Barry claimed they lost the fight and that the weaknesses they identified in Joshua from previous fights had been improved upon. Scoring the fight closer is debateable, but comparing the scorecards with GGG vs Canelo or Wilder vs Ortiz is disgraceful and clearly shows an agenda.
Is it "the demographic?"* *(hey, we haven't used that one around here for a while, I thought I'd bring it back for "old school Monday.")
Absolutely right, and the ref saved Parker from embarrassment. It was Juicin' J. coming forward making the fight for 12 rounds. Parker didn't want to engage.
Completely agree. Everyone want knock outs but when he hasn’t gone the distance he had a stamina problem and was vulnerable over 12. Now he is controlling fights across 12 he is being critiqued more. I didn’t think it was his best performance nor was his fight against Takam but he never looked in danger, infact he looked in 3rd gear to me. I was waiting for him to step on the gas but personally he looked in control enough. I thought Joshua looked the most dangerous inside and the ref hindered both of them. Joshua was clearly stronger in the clinch. It’s just fashionable at time to go against the tide and so we have this anti Joshua movement. He isn’t a perfect fighter by any stretch and wilder is a serious challenge but he is beating what’s infront of him and winning belts....
Parker`s reach is shorter you have to get inside, how can you take inside fighting out of a fight, what would of happened to Frazier and Tyson and what about the first Duran v Leonard classic? I`ve never heard of anything so stupid.
Well some people claimed that in his last fight AJ was gassed and if referee didnt stop Takam then he was going to knockout Joshua in last 2 rounds , what did you expect for this one especially after AJ went the distance for the first time really ? Im not AJ fanboy but he won 8-4 and made it look easy.Parker fought on the backfoot as predicted and played it safe to lose decision. He may get gifts like that in New Zealand at home but not in the UK.He isnt big puncher and isnt very skilled boxer either , so should be grateful for making so much money and getting FEW controversial decisions on the way to this payday. Referee was very bad but didnt change the outcome of the match at all. Also not surprised that some had Parker winning i mean we had people scoring Ward over Kovalev first fight and Canelo over Golovkin and also even Bradley over Pac 1.
It was a Broner like performance from Parker,it is possible to go in there with the intent of surviving twelve rounds but with that they always forget to inflict damage. I’m sure the plan was to expect Joshua to gas like Pricey did v Hammner.
He cant win with alot of boxing fans. If he knocks someone out, hes just a power puncher who couldnt go 12. When he goes 12 and wins very comfortably (i had it 9-3/8-4) he is a terrible fighter who has been exposed. I think he will gain alot more fans (outside of the mainstream) in the UK especially when he loses. I have no idea why but its a typical British thing to do. Britain loves a try-hard or someone who we know isnt the best but gives their all, you only have to look at other sports to see this. As for US fans, they have the anti-joshua agenda because of Wilder. Realistically AJ is the champion that america has longed for, a guy who looks the part, talks well and has taken on challenges from early in his career. When AJ beats Wilder they will jump ship for sure. I personally think he is ahead of time as to where he should be in his career and after only starting in 2008. The IBF title win after 16 fights means he has had to be fast tracked though.
If you watch the fight and score what you’re supposed to. AJ won. Due to boxing being a RBR basis, people don’t understand that you can have a one sided scorecard even in a close fight. The difference of the fight was AJ actually landing more punches. Both did a good job negating eachothers offense but you can’t give guys points for effort when they’re not effectively landing a punch which a lot of times was Parker’s downfall for many rounds. People hand out too many participation awards when scoring fights now days.
Joshua started in 2013 October.... Ahead of schedule would be an understatement. At the end of the day it won't matter who he fights BC these guys don't avoid ACTUAL top ten guys. Wilder still has one of the worst HW resumes for a champion.
