You're including Russia as having won 108 olympic gold medals in the total of FOUR olympics it has participated in since the breakup of the USSR, while you're comparing it to the US, which has participated in 25 olympics in its history.

Comparing apples to apples, the US has won about 37 olympic summer gold medals PER SUMMER OLYMPICS, while Russia has won 25, while having 1/3 of your population.
If only hot dog competitions were an olympic sport.
