Imagine how many MWs to LHWs England would have if all the athletes wernt playing football.

So why would an elite athlete choose football over boxing if they had a chance to be good at both?

because you can pull in over £100,000 per week after tax 52 weeks of the year for kicking a ball of air rather than being punched in the face....Hatton is a one off, footballers earning over $160,000 per week every week is very common, and thats just the club contract, not sponsors or anything else

This is nothing but an exuse because the Klitschko brothers are white ..so now they have to make the exuse that their best are in other sports plain and simple ...if any one of these fellas got into the ring with a Klitschko they would get blasted out of their...I don't care if you gave them 5 years ..the results would be the same.... in the history of boxing there has never been such dominance as now..

It is not about being White, I have stated many times, that elite White American Athletes would also school the Klits had they gone into boxing, rather than ball sports.

It maybe true that there are a lot of big dudes in other sports that could make great heavies but just because your big doesn't mean your going to play pro fball or bball. Granted they wouldn't have started at a young age in boxing but on an average team of 105 or so college players maybe like 10 make the NFL. Meaning you have a lot of big guys who could turn to boxing late. You think you would see more guys like Seth Mitchell who make the jump and do decent.

this is all just a sorry pathetic attempt to try to diminish and discredit the all time greatness of the Klitschkos who are dominating more violently than Tyson and Ali. Chambers Patterson Brock Lyle Shavers Brewster Folley Mildenberger - they are all the same thing.

However the Frazier Foreman Norton equivalent are Haye Povetkin Valuev but they are too scared to step up and take their beatings which would finally give the Klitschkos their ultimate stamp of approval and credibility.

Ray Lewis, Shaq, Lebron, Manning, Pujols, Crosby, Ed Reed, would all get knocked the **** out by the Klitschkos just like what the current contenders are getting. Some people can't handle the truth.

The Klitschkos have come along and surpassed Ali and Tyson and taking hwt boxing to a new level. Someday someone will come along and exceed the Klitschkos but that successor is not apparent at this time.

Forget England, how many must there be across the world?

If we're going with this American bull**** idea that all HWs are playing in the NFL and NBA then you have to assume that all the champions from lower weight classes are playing football (soccer) across the globe. Purely based on the millions playing the game it is far more likely scenario.

It would've made sense, but it still wasn't happening. Boxing was still 4th fiddle during Ali's heyday from a participation standpoint behind baseball, football, and basketball because they were all more popular youth sports. That's where the bleeding happens- at the youth level. There was a fraction of the youth boxing when Ali was fighting as there was 30 years prior when school boxing teams were quite common.

You can't just pretend that the best athletes wait until going pro to pick which sport they play based on economic reasons. Usually, they pick out a favorite sport as a kid (or their parents do it for them) and stick with it. Even with Ali's influence, some kids got motivated to actually become boxers- but the majority of them chose other sports instead and the declining participation continued.

And the reason that NFL players are so much more athletic than they were when Ali fought is because steroids were introduced, ironically enough, in the early 1960's. The league's absolutely riddled with them and has been for nearly 50 years.

Whether they were multi millionaires or not, were there still great athletes in the NFL during tyson reign and even LL reign who could have been dominant. Surely even at those times there would have been guys with higher 'stats' than a small tyson?
