Trust me. If there was a fast exciting heavyweight like Tyson or Muhammad Ali in boxing nobody would care. If Heavyweights fought like Holyfield every second of every round, looking to kill you with bad intentions, then nobody would care what nationality a boxer is.

Manny Pacquiao is the second most popular boxer in America. Everyone who follows sports knows his name or knows of him. Because he gets in the ring and brings excitement. He sold 50,000 tickets to see him punch a Ghanians guard for 12 rounds in friggin Texas.

But yeah its just Americans bruised egos. Its not that the heavyweight division is utterly atrocious and has been for the last decade.

No doubt about it. The same reason Kelly Pavlik got so much hate, a white man beating the genuine middleweight champ? Jesus, the sky must have fallen in.

Also note the better and more comprehensive drug testing has become the less success Americans are having on the world sporting scene. I feel sorry for all the Euro fighters who had to challenge in the US from the 70s on, besides the knock-them-out-to-get-a-draw judging, the fact the Americans they were fighting were so chemically enhanced the Euro boys had **** all chance.

the question really is....would the lineage of the hw title been the same without the mafia refusing to allow the belt to leave the usa. If the belt had been allowed to lesave...and went to britain for example, i wonder how long it would have taken to get back, bare in mind travelling, corruption etc

'they are in other sports'...if I started a thread stating that all of the UK's Middleweight champions are being persuaded into football, otherwise we would be dominating the division...you would be the first to comment.
America made the division, but just because they made it doesn't mean it is always going to be successful...and as soon as you stopped producing stars, then came the excuses.

No, you clearly had the better Heavyweights. But now that you are struggling, there is an excuse. It may be a valid reason to a certain extent...but you are using it as an excuse.

No doubt it would be bigger around the world...but once again you are taking more credit than is deserved.

I think the 'other sports' argument is a load of BS!!

If someone doesn't like the thought of being hit and would rather shoot hoops, they were never going to be a good boxer anyway. It takes more than size to be a fighter, not just any athlete can get in the ring and perform in H2H combat.

Soccer is not a sport that requires a great deal of athleticism. Diego Maradona very well may be the greatest player ever and was a midget coke head. The greatest player today is a kid with a physical disorder.

    Atleast say Rugby next time.

But again you fail to address the question. Who made the heavyweight division what it is today. What country produced the most exciting fighters? Who produced the most exciting fights? Why since that country no longer is top in the game has the heavyweight division fallen so badly? Do you see a correlation?

Please tell me. WHo else should get the credit for making the heavyweight division?

So are we all agreed then that euros would have and would absoluttly dominate MW/SMW divisions if it wasnt for Football?. RJJ, Hopkins ect would have had to flee and stay at LHW because they would have stood no chance at SMW ect?. Guess Ward and Dirrell better thank their lucky stars they not fighting the "true best euros at smw".

yeah our WWs are playing ****ing soccer instead of boxing!! Mesi was going to be an ATG WW

edit: which is a stupid comment given the fact that Mesi is Argentinian. But Rooney was going to be the best JMW!!

The question is, how come the USA with a population of 320 million cant produce hw's...because they are all in other sports

yet the UK with a population of 60m has rolled out MW/SMW time and time again...even with a smaller population and football being huge.

You ever played the sport?, you might just be surprised by that, the demands of almost constant running and turning is very difficult to play at a high level

Just because you dont need to pump youself full of anabolics doesnt mean its not demanding
