I had Juarez beating MAB. MAB decided to stay in the pocket and fight at close quarters with Juarez and Juarez got the better of him. Second fight MAB just lateralled around Juarez not giving the lead footed Juarez a chance to mount anything. MAB was extra cautious that rematch with Juarez just basically flicking a jab and not really putting much behind anything which made it a boring fight. 3 years past before John tried Juarez and Juarez laid leather on John despite the fact he was attempting to box him. Not that Juarez was anywhere near great vs MAB, but he was much deteriorated after 3 years had gone by when fighting John.
He didn't clearly get beat at all by Marquez and he's not the only good featherweight he faced either

yo bailey you already done ATG tribute thread pt 5 Part 5: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showpost.php?p=10023242&postcount=57 Full thread: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=322064 atsch Part 6 has also been done:- http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=322096 on a real note, I believe Chris John deserves more respect than he gets 15+ World title wins is solid feat. I think its the questionable results against a more favorite Marquez that gets Chris John hate. Regardless he posed problems for the future ATG Marquez which is another credible feat. Maybe short of the ATG status, but I do think he is under rated.
I dont think anyone here is hating on John, but when you have people claiming he's an ATG because he got a hometown decision vs a great and made a bunch of defenses against the 2nd and 3rd tier of the division, its just not accurate. I mentioned Rocky Juarez earlier. Juarez was right near the top of that 2nd tier of good fighters at 126/130 lbs, and a past it version of Juarez made John look ordinary. John beat Rocky, but I think that fight gives out a great clue to the extent of John's capabilities. Bottom line here is John was a good, maybe even an excellent champion, but he was not at any point in his career an A level top tier type of fighter in the boxing landscape.
I agree the popularity of John, along with his nationality and fighting style shouldn't come in the way when giving Chris John props. However they want to put it Chris John was the number 1 featherweight in the world for a good while during the latter half of the last decade. I don't think that is even arguable.
:rofl:rofl:rofl There's not much to find. The reality is that John's resume is rather weak when you consider that he never fought the best available opposition during his stays at 126 lbs and 130 lbs. Marquez, Pac, MAB, and Morales had left the featherweight division at the start of John's reign as the champion there, but looking at his record, I see the better names in that division during John's stay at both featherweight and Super featherweight are missing. You got excellent fighers like Oscar Larios, Robert Guerrero, Orlando Salido, Humberto Soto, and even Jorge Linares who was highly hyped during his stay at 126 lbs, are probably the best of the bunch at those weight classes during Johns reign, and yet John never fought any of them. There isn't a case to be made here for John even coming with in sniffing distance of being an ATG.
