If you had to pick the 4 boxers that defined Australian boxing throughout it's history who would you choose. The boxers wouldn't necessarily have to have held world titles but represented their era in Australian boxing.

So many great champions to choose from and no doubt my list will change but I would have
    1. Les Darcy (was a national hero).
    2. Jimmy Carruthers (our first universally recognised boxing World Champion).
    3. Lionel Rose
    4. Jeff Fenech

Any of these fighters could be replaced by the likes of Young Griffo, Vic Patrick, Tommy Burns, Ron Richards, Dave Sands etc.

Jeff fenech does not deserve to be anywhere near that list, agree on the rest

    why not?
Won a largely joke belt (when he won the ibf was considered similarly to the wbf that shannan taylor won last year).
Got cleaned up by some very low level fighters
and is an absolute grub of human being, thief, mug and lowlife!

Stiffjab is attempting to troll, I will not feed.

You could go a few different routes esp if in a hypothetical scenario the gus were facing off against each other...

Middleweights - Sands, Darcy, Richards and Tony Mundine

Lightweights - Patrick, Micheals, Katsidis and Thompson

Bantam/Feather - Rose, Carruthers, Griffo, Fammo

When I used to think of Aussie fighters The likes of Harding , Fenech , Fammo used to soring to mind then you lads kindly educated me on guys like Rose , Darcy , Sands etc names I had obviously heard of but never really knew much about. From what I knew and have since learnt I would have to go with , Rose , Fammo , Harding and Fenech .:good

Fair enough I'm not a Fenech fan. But I put him ahead of tsyzu because he won titles at a couple different weights and beat some future HOF fighters.

..yeah mate..I'll always put Fenech slightly above Kostya for the reasons you've mentioned too..totally agree..and I probably couldn't put Kostya above guys like Jimmy Carruthers either..but there's really just a struck match between all them guys..
..then we have Johnny Famechon and to a lesser extent Hitman Harding..
    ..a good topic anyway..:good
