Were these fixes or just an awful, awful refs?

To me the Azerbaijan situation is one of the strangest, most blatant fixes I've ever seen. The Azerbaijan fighter clearly was out and any legitimate ref would had called the fight for the safety of the other fighter. The fact that a report regarding this exact situation was already made public bogles my mind. I'm glad the decision was overturned

As far as the Iranian fighter being disqualified, I'm not sure this was a fix but terrible refereeing. I've seen fighters hold much worse all Olympics long. I wonder if this German ref had some sort of hatred for Iranians due to current political climate...? Of course I can never prove this and I might be reading to much into it but it's definitely plausible.

Love him or hate him Teddy calls it like is in both situations.

I saw that fight with the Iranian....total bull**** call by the refs. Even if there was some sorta foul, it wasn't grounds for disqualification. Either straight up incompetence or some sorta biased prejudiced refereeing.

I saw in our local paper this morning that the decision was overturned and the Japanese fighter can continue on in his bracket.

I've only watched about 3 hours of the boxing coverage since I'm not glued to the TV most of the time. That said, I don't know about many of you, but I'm just about sick of hearing Teddy Atlas with his non-stop talking and his bits of gym wisdom like "He's gotta put some bugs on the windshield." when referring to a boxer keeping his jab in his opponents face.

The guy does know boxing and calls it like it is for the most part but when he gets mad or excited over something, I find him hard to understand. I bet his fellow commentators must be taking a shower when he gets on a rant.

I cannot believe the Iranian fighter was disqualified for nothing shows the power these refs have in manipulating fights. The Cuban got a gift.

And the Japanese boxer did not score the knock downs, his opponent fell from exhausting 5 times. In any case, the ref should have stopped the fight. Well at least they overturned the decision.
