Wasn't Mavoric liked 210 pounds or something like that? Louis was 207 vs Buddy Baer

Buddy Baer is not arguably a top 3 HW in history.

I think the point is that Mavrovic didn't just crumble when Lewis hit him.

Imho joe louis is the best HW in history.

Not sure about the outcome though.

Feel like Lennox would play it safe most of the fight and when he does that he was extremely difficult to beat. That being said i still think Joe would find a way to penetrate his defense and get around that great jab. I don’t think this would be an interesting fight as i despised most Lennox fights when he was playing it safe.

In that case you'll be deeply impressed to know that 185lb Adolph Waiter (19-6-3) not only went the distance with Louis but also gave him a dang close run.

    I think I'll take 215lb, (27-1) Mavrovic over Waiter.

This. I doubt Lewis would mix it up with a dynamite puncher like Joe unless he really really absolutely had to. Very likely it would be a boring attritional fight. I'd fancy the larger Lennox to win this handily. Though, you never know. Louis had a great jab himself and if Lewis found himself losing the battle of the jabs he might be forced into a firefight.

I think that is at least as forgivable, at the respective stage of their careers, and irrelevant.

The point is that some people are arguing that Louis would just get steamrolled due to the size disparity, and that is obviously nonsense.

A fairly ordinary fighter of Louis's size, was able to take Lewis the distance.

The punches that Mavrovic took would have seen many a good fighter on their ass and i dare say some very very big names. He showed an unbelievable chin quite frankly and fought extremely well. It would have been interesting to see how he would have fared post Lewis if only he didn't have that terrible health issue.

In that case I agree with you.

I think Lewis would win, and I'd be fairly confident of that.

I'm also just as confident that it would in no form be easy, that it would be competitive, and that there's a fair chance that Louis can come out on top.

And Mavoric wasn't Number 1 or 2 heavyweight in history.

There's simply too much of a size difference. Almost 40lbs.

If Louis had boxed in the 90s I'm sure he would have weighed at least 220lbs and would have had more of a chance. But at 200lbs he's simply too small.

Mavrovic's chin wasn't ordinary though. That's what enabled him to last the distance, nothing else.

I reckon Lennox, probably quite early on.
