I think "Robibson" matches most of what SRL can do & brings more firepower on top of it. He was almost akin to a cross between SRL & Hearns.

I’m not a fan of SRL the man but the Boxer was something very special if anyone can beat Robinson it’s him, I vote SRL.

Of all fantasy matchups, this is the one I'd like to see the most. Each of them will present problems the other has not had to deal with before. I'm going to go with Robinson but if Leonard shakes Robby up at all he will ruthlessly finish him off.

    Hi Buddy.
For sure a great match up, I would have a few above that, Greb/Monzon, Gans/Leonard, Sanchez/ Saddler, Wilde/Lynch, and just as a throw away, Basilio/Palomino.
stay safe Fogger, been missing you lately, chatsoon.

Robinson would get a decision, with maybe both dropped at some point.

I dunno if Leonard could even finish Robinson at all imo,he faced a variety of good punchers in his career and the only TKO loss he had was from absolute heat.

Robinson would probably enraged at the temerity to adopt his nickname. I agree with bolo that Robinson just brings all of the same attributes, except with even greater firepower and range. He also fought better off the backfoot, whereas Leonard was a stop-start potshotter (very effective in his own right at that) that burned far more energy with excess lateral movement.

Robinson wins--but in an epic battle! This would be one of THE all-time great matchups! As great as Leonard was-Robinson at his peak was just a shade better. A bit more in the arsenal-both power and overall boxing skill.

You list some great matchups. The one I always wanted to see most until the two Sugars topped it was Benny Leonard - Roberto Duran at lightweight.

Are we talking at welter or middle?

I respect both greatly and feel that SRR has been somewhat forgotten on this board (how many threads about him versus someone like Corrie Sanders?) and SRL underrated (he was an amazing fighter).

You're really talking about one of the top fighters in history against a guy who is just the top fighter in history, and, H2H, we're talking about barely seeing light between them at their H2H best.
