Not true here:nono I fought out of Hollenback gym. and fought off an on since 8 till 20 years old and had 18 amatuer fights 15-3 . My original gym is one ODLH used as his other one to train as a young teen although his home gym was ressurection. Also home of Paul Gonzalez(gold Medal) and up and coming star Frankie Gomez dont know Gomez but this fan has had many rounds and fights . Also trained at Bennys Jet center with Alex Garcia and home to number of other fighters from the past including world champions Mike Weaver,Bobby Chacon(before i went). Been around this game too long mostly as a fan but a fighter too, so cant no one throw that never had a round under my belt talk towards me. I just cant help myself from debating with Arran. IF you were on here a little more,you would know a little about Arran and understand where im coming from.

 

Good to hear i never mean anything personal on here i always like to remain objective as i have a love for the sport.

I currently train at boxing club and will be boxing at start of boxing season after the summer. ill be a late starter with regards to fights but been in gym and around boxing my whole life.you got my respect

 

I think the basic point here is, Nonito chooses to say he's representing the Filipino people and he flies the flag of the Philippines. You rarely hear him talk about America. A good comparison would be one of the Cubans who find in America or elsewhere - They may, like Gamboa or Perez, occasionally mention their new country but you can't really argue that they're American or Irish.

If he wore both flags, always mentioned both countrys and so on, then he'd rightly be considered Filipino American, just like De La Hoya is Mexican American, but, unlike De La Hoya, I don't really hear much from him about America.

 

Robert Guerrero does not demand pound for pound recognition because of a hard fought decision win over Katsidis.

 

I know what you mean many fighters more so in the united states wear the flag of there fathers. especially with fighters who are decended from migrants into the usa

Robert guererro is a hell of a fighter he beat katsidis by not allowing himself to be bullied. it was a very dominant performance against a very strong opponent

No but hes solid and been on a good streak... His resume is worthy of being close to or a top 20 pfp ranking. He hasnt beaten any elite guys but hes beaten more legit contenders than most others can say.. Also 2 division champ working on his 3rd. That counts for alot.

I had the pleasure of meetin Ken at the WBHOF he was wearing a kelt and kind of tipsy Me my dad and a few others were all on the same elevetor on our way up to an after party.. Super cool guy and great boxer.

 

atsch Im getting tired of explaining this.... IF you were american you would know That Nonito is American in his ways,speech etc etc and an american citizen who is proud of his phillipino roots, he was born there but is a Californian and an american citizen.... Gamboa was raised in Cuba learned to fight there,doesnt speak english and is basically as an adult probably barely adapting to american culture.... The comparisons of these 2 are silly man an american would know exactly what im talking about..... No disrespect but for the most part someone from the uK or england dont really have a clue on this subject...

 

I just have a long memory and am a boxing fan amateur and pro. Ken lives not far from me and loves a drink maybe a little too much but within the sport of boxing his achievements are well respected. :good

 

In the uk we have fighters who were born and raised in england but have parents that were born in another country and left for a better life. p a k i stan(country is seen as a swear word when spaced correctly lol) india africa eastern europe and even ireland. most of these people retain cultural and religious ideals even though they are british they are ethnic minorities(classified for identifying ethnic groups whites blacks asians etc) the only difference between the uk and the us is the nationality tends to be more hispanic ,indonesian,philipino,samoan cuban because these places are more geographically placed toward the americas. same thing just different background but it doesnt mean they are less a part of what i see as british and what an american sees as american

 

nonito reps america. hence him fighting for america in the amatuers and in tournaments. but yeah they are all from the bay.

 

I always wondered why we dont produce more talent.
