The Benavidez vs Morrell prediction thread.

Benavidez TKO. Could be a surprisingly easy fight for him also. Depends how good Morrell is at taking punishment.

 

Looking forward to this. Morrell is skilled but I think he took this fight a bit too early, and Benavidez is experienced and is also proven in beating some good fighters in Plant, Andrade and Gvozdyk.

I'll go for Benavidez UD. 8/9 to 3/4 rounds for him.

 

I honestly think both are going to have their hardest fights yet and could possibly go the distance going either way. Gun to my head though I'll take Benavidez to edge out Morrell. I'll be very impressed if Benavidez manages to stop Morrell.

This should be a very entertaining and violent fight, especially with the bad blood between them.

I think Benavidez stops him. Morrel is used to winning the front foot battle for his jab and right hook, both which set up his straight left. He takes away their counterpunching angles by stepping outside their lead hand. Benavidez squares up more and has a fast left hook that will be waiting when morrel attacks from that angle. And that’s half morrels game. I don’t think he’s seasoned enough to survive that getting taken away from him. We will see if he’s got other tricks he can fall back on.

The thing is.....................I think Morrell has far more potential than Benavidez (what we see from David is the best and most complete he's gonna be), but he hasn't even fought anyone in the top 15 of either division he's campaigned at. I don't think he's been fire tested yet. It's hard for me to pick someone who hasn't been properly vetted against someone that has been vetted (and passed) multiple times. He hasn't even been really outta 1st gear yet.

I like Morrell, this fight is too early for me, he was a very good amateur but not Loma/Usyk let's immediate aim at everyone as a professional good.

 

I think Morrell is going to surprise a lot of people on this fight. I reckon he wins this, Unanimous Decision. Will be a great fight, I'm looking forward to it

 

Morell tries to keep his distance and avoid exchanges of blows. He uses his quicker feet to avoid exchanges and tries to mark the gap and punish with a well-tuned jab. Benavidez tries to figure it out and starts to make some good counterpunches but stays out of range. Benavidez feels Morell's punch and is more cautious which makes him more timid. Benavidez starts to connect blows to the body to start to take away Morell's mobility and resistance. Some attacks begin and in some, Morell wins. In others, Benavidez. Benavidez starts to add to his body blows the counterpunch, exploding with powerful blows to Morell's face that take him back. The fight starts to become more physical, with Benavidez landing good blows and some punishment, but he withstands the blows and throws his blows with quick hands that intimidate Morell. Benavidez starts to come in and connect big blows to Morell that They destabilize him or start to suffocate him. The lack of experience begins to be seen in Morell, who begins to resent the punishment. Benavidez wins by technical ko

 

Morrell will start fast and build himself a pretty good lead by dictating the pace early controlling the fight mostly with his jab and counter punching, but somewhere around rounds 4 and 5 Benevidez starts figuring him out and the real fight begins. I think DB's pressure and punches in bunches will start wearing Morrell down mid fight and he gets a late stoppage around the 10th round.

 

Morrell has been able to fight his fight against most, if not all, of his opponents. I don't see DB allowing that to happen. I see Morell needing to adapt to DB moreso than DB needing to change. We may find out how well Morell adapts, but if he can't, he gets beat. That's why I voted DB.
