What are some of the best you've seen? Most of the ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries were great just to get started. 30 for 30 Shorts Robbed Muhammad Ali Vs Ken Norton 1976 Muhammad and Larry No Mas Chasing Evander 42 to 1 Champions Forever 1989 I had the original VHS version which had slightly different end credits to the DVD did anyone else notice that? Thrilla in Manila this documentary was produced by Channel 4 in the UK but there are two different versions one with an American narrator for the US audience and one with a British narrator for the UK? Champs Mr Calazghe After The Last Round Tyson Louis Vs Schmelling The Real Story Sonny Liston The Champ Nobody Wanted this was originally broadcast back on BBC 2 in 2001 Maravilla Foreman When The Smoke Clears Fighters
Watch Rich the fighting historian. Most of his documentaries are amazing. My favorite being Earnie Shavers - Boxing's Legendary Knockout Artist Kid Gavilan - Cuba's Boxing Legend Carlos Monzon - Machismo, Mayhem & Murder
Unforgivable Blackness is one I used to go back to a lot; even if all the people they interview for it are completely insufferable. It used to be free on YouTube for years, but recently they made it to where you have to pay for it. $5 for a 3 and a half hour documentary isn't bad though. Rummy's abridged Emmanuel Stewart interview on heavyweight history, along with his 1990's chronology are really good. Then you have the Emile Griffith Ring of Fire documentary, and the recent one Showtime did on The Four Kings. I think we're long overdue for a Rocky Marciano documentary that doesn't suck. I was re-watching the ESPN Classic one recently that has this sappy patriotic music playing loudly through the entire thing, even while Rocky's friend is talking about how "HE HIT A TREE AND WAS DECAP'ITED."
