Sorry for the bump but boxing fans should know about this one! It's worth the encore post trust me! :good
Great, now I have to bring out the guns that will get me a lot of smack from ya'll. I am a huge opera fan, and there is a wonderful opera called Requiem for a Heavyweight. If there are any opera fans in this forum (doubtful, but possible) then I strongly urge you to check it out.
You know for some strange reason that I can't think of, I really didn't like this movie too much. I know, boxing fans will slap me for saying so, but really, I just didn't like it. I liked the fight scenes, and the Malcolm X assassination was pretty dramatic in a good way (sad event however), but overall, I just didn't like it too much.
i cant believe no one mentioned; CHAMPION (2002) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325165/ Champion is about the life and death of Korean boxer Deuk-Gu Kim in the boxing ring. The film went into great detail about Kim's life and times during the 1980s and outlined how Kim came to be a great boxer. Kim's family was also depicted in this film. Boom Boom Mancini was the boxer that injured Kim in such a way as to cause his death. If you're looking for a biography about Kim, then this film is for you. You will know everything you ever wanted to know about Kim. The film was well made as a class B+ with many good attributes. It is subtitled in most places so you do have to read the dialog. Get the DVD if you have some time to kill. I enjoyed it to bits!!!
