bayless...specially when hes counting out fighters...with those big eyes and loud count makes the fighter aware he better ****ing wake up...
Smoger's good, Week's is ok too, Lane was brilliant, neumann and goldstein I don't know-can't put faces to the names, Nady's terrible-get's too involved, Vann's terrible-doesn't get involved enough and he works for frank warren, Cortez used to be good but he's maybe a little old now. Steele was good-safety first but that's not a bad thing-I never saw a stoppage of his where I was suspicious of foul play. Lane was best, then Smoger.
SS gets my vote , good ref good guy I like nady too he's a **** ref but its that confused pitbull look he always has on his face give me a giggle !
forgot Randy Neumann , I like him too although I wouldnt like to be getting a beating in fight he was reffing !
Cappucino was awesome. Now it's the (unoriginal, I know, but at the end of the day it is what it is) trilogy of Weeks, Smoger and Bayless.
I loved in one of the Gatti-Ward fights (I think it was 1) where Cappucino just blurts out "You don't fight with your head, Arthur."
I thought Cortez was terrible in this fight. Didnt allow much fighting on the inside which led to Hatton's frustration and ultimate KO. Thats not to say Floyd wouldn't have outpointed him by a comfortable margin, because he would. I'd say this is a year Cortez would rather forget.
I think Mickey Vann is a very good official - it is actually rare you see him on a Sports Network bill these days. Some of the British officials are too quick to stop opponents for cuts and issue point deductions for questionable offences (Dave Parris for instance) but Vann doesn't. He also runs a very cheap cafe that serves quality breakfasts for under £3, about five minutes from where I work! His handling of Bruno vs Lewis was very good, the stoppage perfectly timed IMO. Cortez is done - he seems to think he is bigger than the sport and needs chopping down, and quick. Smoger is excellent but perhaps is a little late with stoppages, whilst Kenny Bayless is simply brilliant - you barely notice he is actually in the ring unless an incident takes place, and in those instances he deals with it in a calm and efficient manner.
Smoger, Bayless, and Weeks.......Steele pissed me off in the Pryor-Arguello2 fight, he wouldnt shut the **** up, it got pretty annoying
