Why doesn't Gerry Penalosa ever land on these lists? Ben Tackie's ability to absorb flush punches to the head and body was almost frightening. Tsyu was landing full blooded power punches on Tackie jaw at will and 'Wonder' kept cruising nonchalantly forward. The punishment Tackie took from Hatton, Tsyu, Lazcano, Teddy Ried, Robert Garcia, etc. etc. etc without ever even getting visibly buzzed HAS to get him on this list. And how about Juan Laporte. He fought: Nelson, Lockridge, Pedroza, Sanchez, McGuigan, Tsyu, Chavez, Gomez, Reid, and about a billion other guys and was only stopped once. These chin lists are always too heavyweight centric
How the fighters I have seen 1. Jake Lamotta 2. Marvin Hagler 3. Muhammad Ali 4. Aaron Pryor 5. Rocky Marciano 6. Julio Cesar Chavez 7. Henry Armstrong 8. Barney Ross 9. Ken Buchanan 10. Carmen Basilio Again..these are the guys who I have seen. Some of them have been stopped a/o knocked down but each of them has shown and amazing ability to take punishment and not flinch.
Damn right. Love the Maxie shout out...for his pillow hands he fought a ton of killers and was hardly dropped, let alone stopped.
It's not bold at all. It's very logical and easy to back up. Took some of the biggest punches from some of the biggest punchers of all time, never stopped, dropped or hurt. That's McCall in a nutshell.
Good choices. Tackie would definitely be one of my picks. In Jin Chi had an insane chin as well. Anyone want to argue for Librado Andrade?
Another good choice. Now that he's older he's had to absorb a lot more of the force of the punch, and has still not been badly knocked down or stopped, barring the Johnson fight donkey's years ago.
That Battling Nelson guy was pretty rugged: http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/nelson-b.htm Ad Wolgast was, too: http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/wolgast.htm :smoke
Wolgast had some help in Jack Welch.I watched Welch pick him up and count out Joe Rivers yesterday, naughty stuff.:nono
