A fighter who was not good enougth to be a elite or a world champion but was a solid contender, for me omar sheika, scot pemberton, eugene hart and bert cooper are the best. Also plz dont put great fighters like jimmy young, bennie brisco and herol graham 3 fighters who all should of been world champions but for one reason or another it didnt happen
I don't understand what you mean, because the best contender would have been pretty near to the title surely? I'm going for Willie Joyce anyway.
the reason i used the word contender, what can you call fighters like omar sheika, scot pemberton, bert cooper, micky ward and eugene hart there to good to be called journeymen or club fighters so i went with contender.
George Benton, Ritchie Kates and Choi Chung-Il are 3 guys who impressed me against quality opposition but were never champion (or titlists) I haven't really thread the thread, but I imagine it's about someone of quality who never truly had that defining moment in the upper echelons. EDIT: Yaqui Lopez is a great shout, really that LHW era was stacked with insanely talented contenders, as was Bentons Middleweight crowd.
