Up against a technically superior opponent and having no ring IQ = little chance, every chance of having your pockets picked.

Sometimes referees are at fault - Hatton vs Urango being a good example, but in general fighters will do whatever the referee lets them get away with, such as Floyd's subtle as a brick tactics of leaving the elbows and forearm in after punching etc, or Lewis's holding the neck down.
