im glad to see u rememberd dempsey maxmomer but what johnson r u speakin of surely not jack johnson he could control u inside but isnt that pretty much it
Yes Jack Johnson. Mostly for his ability to manhandle and control his opponents in close, and for his excellent inside uppercut.
Joe Frazier defitnaly, I watched his fight against George Chuvalo the other day and never at anypoint in that fight did he stop fighting on the inside.
great picks so far i like riddick bowe, arthur williams and bernard hopkins these guys actually wobble and hurt opponents in clinches.
Thinking of recent fights, Nate Campbell was amazing on the inside against Diaz. Mixed solid in-fighting with a beautiful arsenal of subtle dirty tricks to beat Juan Diaz.
Bowe was pretty amazing considering despite how tall and long he was, he was able to get some helacious shots in real close.
Along with the aformentioned, I name Tony Ayala, esp. after what he did to Bobby Czyz during sparring....then of course there was that Cuevas incident in Summer 77....
foreman did a lot of damage from the inside. he used to egt in some great uppercuts and short hooks. he would also be able to muscle guys out and get great force in when he pushed them back
James Toney is great on the inside. This is where he is at him most comfortable. The only person that may look more comfortable there is Duran. Chavez was very good on the inside. He also had a way shrugging off clinches, and keeping his offense going. Bernard Hopkins is no fun to be close to in a fight. He should be giving lessons in "dirty boxing" to the mma guys.
Chavez has to be there. But of course Duran gets my vote. I didn't watch many footage of Sandy Saddler, but I am pretty sure he is one of the best. No doubt about it.
