Chad Dawson is very very overrated, solid fighter but weak chin and defence, Johnson defeated him...

Calzaghe, Hopkins and Pavlik are in all the top 10 p4p lists but Chad is in none.

The Ring has Dawson rated fourth at 175.

A p4p ranking from 160-175 might look like this:

    1. Joe Calzaghe
    2. Kelly Pavlik
    3. Bernard Hopkins
    4. Winky Wright
    5. Mikkel Kessler
    6. Arthur Abraham
    7. Jermaine Taylor
    8. Antonio Tarver
    9. Chad Dawson
    10. Lucian Bute

By the way, I like Dawson and think he will probably beat Diaconu.

But let's not get carried away.

Dawson is the best from 160-175, despite his weaknesses.

Enjoy him at these weights while you can, his team says he will eventually move up to CW and beyond.

P4P ratings do not insinuate who would win a fight H2H. Neither do divisional ratings, if two fighters are in the same division!

Example: Byrd was rated as the #1 HW in the world by Ring mag when he fought Wlad Klitschko, yet Klitschko was a 4-1 favourite.

Dawson may be rated lower than some of these guys P4P or even at 175, but many experts would favour him to beat them all.

OK. Head to head at 175 Dawson would lose to:

    Calzaghe
    Hopkins
    Tarver
    Kessler

Even fights at 175 would be:

    Pavlik
    Taylor
    Bute
    Glen Johnson (as we saw)
    Erdei

Dawson would probably beat the following as they are too small:

    Abraham
    Winky

-Calzaghe is the best bet to beat Dawson. Intriguing matchup of two skilled southpaws.

-Tarver is too old and throws too little punches. Tarver has that straight left in his arsenal, but at 39 it won't find the mark. Wide UD for Dawson.

-Kessler is too robotic and predictable. If he starts losing rounds, he hasn't shown he can adjust with a plan B either. Wide UD for Dawson.

-Hopkins is also too old and throws too little punches. Hopkins could win a mental war with Dawson and have his way for a few rounds like he did in the Clazaghe fight. Ultimately, activity will be his undoing. Dawson SD.

-Pavlik, Johnson, Taylor, and Erdei: close matchups which Dawson would be favored in. Pavlik especially has the big equalizer.

-Bute, Abraham, Winky: None of these guys have any chance. TKO or wide UD wins for Dawson.

    What are you smoking?

Johnson beat him. And he had Dawson hurt a few times. He has no future at CW. He has a weak chin.

Tarver would put him to sleep. Tarver is the guy who i think beat Johnson twice. Tarver has more power, is more accurate, and has better hand speed than Johnson.

Pavlik? There's a chance that Dawson boxes Pavlik's ears off if it's fought smartly but there's also a good chance that he gets caught and goes to sleep the way Pavlik keeps coming at you.

Taylor? That would be a good fight between two gifted athletes.

Dawson at cruiser, what the ****? :nut

His chin is already questionable. The kid says he can make 168 with no problem, how the hell is he going to make cruiserweight and retain his speed?

    He'll get killed, forget it.

I think he beats everyone at these weights, except possibly Calzaghe who I think would just outsmart him. Kessler also has a pretty good style against him, tough fight to pick.

Well, Pavlik is skill-less AND chinny, yet you think he's a future ATG.

Joe Calzaghe is still the best fighter between 160-175, most would agree.

Chad Dawson would probably lose to Kelly Pavlik at 168 and perhaps to Mikkel Kessler and Arthur Abraham too. At 175, it's not obvious he beats Antonio Tarver or Joe Calzaghe. If Chad Dawson gets past Adrian Diaconu, then, by all means, he is a big player at the weight-range, because he will have proven his chin and tactical discipline, but in the meantime, threads such as these are gratuitous, I think.
