First off I'm scribbling Ali and Foreman off.
Joe Frazier s a tight one, always a bit undecided.
Norton, sorry Ken but your out.

    Using 86 - 89 version.
God, Tyson had such a short time at the top!

Ali's era was a long time and you didn't specify a time frame so Tyson beats everyone, including Ali. Now, I don't think Tyson would always beat them but in a best of seven only Ali wins the series for sure. Liston, Foreman, Frazier and Holmes might go to fight seven before the winner is decided.

Let the calling me an idiot phase of this thread begin.

I'd agree with Fergy, Mike Tyson in likelihood beats Ken Norton, I'd call it close on Earnie Shavers which could go either way. George Chuvalo Vs Mike Tyson would be interesting I'd reckon that would be decided on the scorecard. I don't see him winning against Joe Frazier he might edge it with Sonny Liston. I think he may take a close one on points with Joe Bugner. Ron Lyle also be a good opponent for Tyson it would be difficult to call that one?

Tyson beats Norton,Frazier,Young,Quarry,Bugner,Lyle,Shavers and most other contenders in that era.

Tyson loses to Ali,prime Holmes and Liston of that era.

    Of course he beats him.

It could go either way ?!? o_O
Are you insane ?!? Tyson destroys him in 2-3 rounds tops.

Chuvalo is limited and slow, Tyson by KO.

Tyson KO's Frazier in a few rounds, he's superior in every way, except for stamina.

Liston is the biggest threat to Tyson in that era and the only match where it's 50:50.
You're giving a bum like Shavers more chances to beat Tyson than you are giving Liston. Again, are you insane ?!??????

    He KO's both.

Tyson also beats Ali and Foreman.

Liston is the one that stands the best chance, Tyson whoops the rest.

What about Floyd Patterson? considering they are both Cus D'Amato boxers. I'd pick Mike Tyson but I'd like Patterson to win.

He can beat everyone potentially obviously, the hardest matchups would be Liston and Foreman.

I honestly favor 86-89 Mike against all of Ali's opponents, even that version of George that Ali faced in Kinshasa. The problem being is that Mike only held that form for a few years... as did Frazier. It happens to smaller guys who rely on speed and reflexes.

I always thought Tyson was a tough match up for Holmes. Holmes is a top 5 atg heavyweight imo so that is the best fighter from Alis "era" I think he beats.

Tyson beats everyone from that era.

Ali, Liston and Foreman being his toughest foes. If we're counting a prime Larry Holmes then I'll include him with Ali, Liston and Foreman as barnburner fights for the millennium.

A bout with Frazier would be a rollercoaster ride through hell and back for a minute there.

Patterson and Quarry would both be explosive but short.

Lyle would prove dangerous and most likely gets Berbick'd within 4 rounds.

    Same with Shavers, probably sooner.

    Norton goes out fairly fast.
