The Best Fighter From Ali's Era, That Mike Tyson Beats?

    Norton was a great fighter that probably would have been blown out by Mike early.

    I am on the wall about Frazier...my first thought is to say Iron Mike in 3, but I'm not sure if Tyson would be able to accept an opponent who, if knocked down, kept getting up and slamming his gloves together, ready to fight.

    I should say when, because I'm pretty sure Mike could knock Joe down. Given the reasoning that Foreman hit harder, Joe would certainly get back up....and up....

    Not sure Mike could psychologically deal with that. If it gets past the 5th round I think Frazier stops him (not because I think Mike lacked endurance, on the contrary Mike seemed to have little problem going the distance. It's just because Frazier got even deadlier after the 4th or 5th on average).

    So, I wouldn't bet on that one.

    Good point, JT.
    How about we use the years 1971 - 76.
    That s got enough time to cover the main fighters from the era.
    We could use Tyson 86 - 91 for the real time scale.
    So Tyson 86 - Ali era 71.

    Ok so Liston's out and Holmes is too early to factor in.

    1. Frazier
    2. Norton
    3. Young
    4. Lyle

    I'd take him over those four all day long personally while the best Ali and Foreman from inside that time period beat him for kine.

    Cheers John. Like it. Yep, he ain't beating Ali going with those years years, even tho he wasn't at his very best in those years, because Tyson had also dropped by the 90 - 91.

    Oh wait, are we going in order, like Tyson fights Frazier in 1988 and faces Jimmy Young in 1990 in Tokyo for instance?

    I think I'm making it more convoluted...

    I choose Ali over Tyson. I don't include Holmes as part of Ali's era, but I'd favor Holmes over Mike.
    Tyson versus Frazier and Foreman? I'll let you know after the fight is over.
    Tyson cleans up the rest.

    Your thread title asks for the best fighter from Ali's era that Tyson beats. Your first post doesn't add much onto that. Your second post saying using 86-90 version. So after my question you go 71-76 Ali and 86-91 Tyson. i think i missed that play and didn't realise you were now having things go in order.

    All i've done is just post who i think the best of Tyson from 86-89 would beat out of Ali era 71-76, taking the best versions of those fighters from that 6 year period.

    If we start matching up who Ali fought in what order vs Tyson's timeline it's gonna be pretty messy......i think LOL
