I actually did a count on how many opponents Ali and Louis beat that were ranked in the the Ring Magazine's yearly top 10 at least once. Both beat 25+ such opponents according to my count. Holmes probably beat 15-20, and I would guess that Tyson, Lewis and Holyfield beat around 10-15. Tyson might well be top 5 in this kind of ranking.
Michael Spinx was undefeated champion at what(?) 30 years old? , coming off wins over ATG larry holmes. Spinx was certainly near his prime
I was referring to the fact that seemingly every time someone won the title, this chump was installed as the mandatory contender...yet no **** could fathom out why. :huh
Tucker beat an in shape buster douglas and was good enough for michael spinx to refuse to fight him giving up his IBF belt in the trash.
the best prime fighter Tyson beat may be Razor Rudduck, the Pinklon Thomas he beat was post heroin relapse, Michael Spinks was expected to be a tough scrap so that is up there. Tucker gave him a decent defensive fight but stunned Tyson early to keep him honest. I think Razor Rudduck may have been his best because Razor was KOing top heavy's or Spinks but Holmes was a good win because of the way Tyson annihilated Larry, who still had some fights in him.
Tucker,Spinks,Bruno (2) Ruddock (2) Tyson beat Tucker 11 rounds to 1. Ya know prime Tucker not to be confused with the fat drug addict version that Lewis beat 116-114
When Spinks headed to the ring he said: "I am going to try my best". Not the statement of a confident fighter.
Tucker, Holmes, Rudduck, Bruno. Bruno gave great effort in firt fight, had no fear, he fought better than ever, Tyson was to much. Holmes was still good, tyson dominated, even out jabbed him. If Tucker fought in later era, we would have people saying he would beat Tyson, same for Ruddock. In fact, same for Bebick and others.
