Where about Stonehand Duran? According to some chronicles, he didn't train much for his second fight against Leonard, and that directly explains the infamous "no mas" episode http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/310/mas-version/
Rocky 'n Jake went through THE MOTIONS, c20; that was about it. But Rocky had little patience -- jus' wanted ta flatten guys and go to the track, and Jake was his goombah.
Monzon really got into the jet-set high life, booze, coke and a couple packs of cigs a day. It was a wonder he lasted so long. Duran actually had to lose incredible amounts of weight so to that end he trained very hard. As far as a new name to this list, Stanley Ketchell comes to mind. Perhaps someone better versed on his training habits could elucidate.
From the link: 'The legendary 135-pound terror, who was now atop the world's 147-pounders, weighed no less than 165 pounds. The dedication he had shown in training for Leonard had been replaced by an insatiable appetite for fast days, even faster nights and women who were even faster than that'. Leonard was, as ever, rat cunning in his timing for the bout that followed (no law against stacking the odds in your favour though).
