I think Galento would beat LOTS of good contenders.
I reckon he'd beat Ken Norton, for starters.

Suzie, do you still think Galento beats Wlad? Probably not huh.

SuzieQ likes to have either favourites that he worships and builds up, glorifies etc. .... or fighters that he dismisses, breaks down, insults, mocks etc.
He does it with entire eras.

Maybe Wlad used to be in the latter group, but SuzieQ promoted him to the former group. For reasons unknown.

Wlad has fought Ibragimov, Thompson, shot-to-**** Rahman, Chagev, Chambers, Peter and Haye since then ...... hardly a stellar bunch that would make one revise an entire opinion from one extreme to the other, but a worthy lot.

To be honest, my own view of Wlad Klitschko, and I'm sure it's the same for most of us, has grown quite a bit over the last 5 or 6 years.
I think he's mastered his safety-first style, and is far more skillful than most give him credit for.
I rate Wlad about the same as I rate Lennox Lewis. I certainly don't rate Lewis as high as most around here though.

How about Ingo? I wouldn't favor Tony but he might have a chance at connecting.

"talent starved WWII era of boxing."

    Galento was pre-WWII.

As for the question, I don't see him as a likely winner over any champion except perhaps Leon Spinks. As he beat Nova, I assume he might have edged some contenders over the years, but not the really outstandings ones such as Eddie Machen.

He destroys Bob Mirovic and John Hopoate in one round, at the same time.
