The best fighters you'd take Pacquiao over in any weight class?

I'm picking Pac to beat him. Mayweather's inherent stylistic issues with lefties and his proclivity for backing up in straight lines put him in a world of trouble if you ask me. I'm not convinced the Shane fight can be taken as evidence that Floyd's footwork has gone but if it has that makes it even more difficult for him as Pac will have a much easier time working and creating angles from a version of Floyd that doesn't fight so elusively from the back foot. Pac's speed of foot also poses great problems.

Well, you are a bit of a nut-case, so I'll give you a pass.

 

Actually If you will look at other forums many none Pacquiao fans favor him on certain fighters like Pryror, Chavez and Trinidad.

 

I would peg Mayweather to win. But I wouldn't be shocked if Pacquiao outworked him to a decision. I just think Mayweather would find a way to nullify him enough and if not, Pacquiao will force Mayweather to unleash the beast and Manny will get hurt by the bigger man. I doubt that will happen. I bet the fight would be a big letdown as far as action.

 

For me, this is probably the most likely scenario. Floyd's style isn't endearing to judges to say the least. Both Castillo (rematch) and DLH managed to win several rounds on the judges cards just by staying active, even though the effectiveness was close to zero. If Oscar could win the fight on one of the judges cards with his for the most part completely ineffectual flurries, Pac should be able to win it on at least two cards.

I think Pac really will ask some questions of Floyd - if they ever meet.

 

You're probably right about that. But top 5 p4p is a distinct possibiliy considering his great results all the way from flyweight. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's a way to go there.

 

I disagree. Pac is awesome and a great fighter but he fights in a shallow era with a thin talent pool where it is easy to pick up belts with the advantage of 24-hours weigh in and only 12 rounds and only few fights. Not his fault but his legacy suffers from this and too much to be ranked up there IMO.

 

How is these advantages when they're the same for everyone?

And this "shallow era with thin talent pool"... it's just not an old cliché, but probably as old as the sport itself actually.

 

Came on. It´s so obvious. Compare the eras. Having 17 weightclasses and 10-12 belts per wieghtclass, making it easy to avoid tough challenges, don´t help either. This era is aweful.

Advantage not over his contempries but over the fighters of the past.
