Why would u put Ortiz and not ruddock ? Ortiz beat tony Thompson and Bryant Jennings that’s it —- Donovan ruddock beat better guys then those 2 - weaver - broad - bonectusher - dokes - page - Jackson -
When? Sadly he looks that didn't had managed to debilitate Ali enough to end fights with him in distance and KTFO him. Damn how bad.
Foreman was better then Ali but Ali knocked foreman out mmmmmmm how’s that better then Ali ? That’s like saying razor ruddock got knocked out by mike Tyson in first fight but he’s still a better fighter then Tyson —- great logic
when Foreman lost vs Ali he did not had get rematch. when Ali lost vs Frazier, he get rematch. Boxing is business and Ali in 70 ies was bad not good boxer. BAD boxer with big name. When lost vs Norton, again get rematch. King's kid and BAD boxer with big name.
Foreman would have beaten Ali in a rematch ( I believe but also Ali would have been 34 by the time the rematch happened !!!! And it’s not Ali’s fault that George foreman got depressed after Ali loss and didn’t fight again for almost 1.5 yrs ... that’s foreman’s problem - what was Ali to do ? Wait until 1976 for foreman to take sum Prozac and not fight again until 1976 ??????????? Just cause George got depressed ????? It took Ali 3 yrs to get the Frazier rematch !!!! Your ideology is kinda from Mars
Thoughts: 1. Ibeabuchi would've been exposed once he started fighting superheavies who could jab. If Kirk Johsnon roughs you up in the gym, you're in trouble. 2. Norton wouldn't have fared well against superheavies. 3. Povetkin was tested pretty sternly by Huck, Chambers and a past prime Chagaev compared to the expectations some place on him. Luis Ortiz is probably the answer. He was a dynamic, well rounded southpaw with size and a solid background. The only problem is that most of his prime was squandered.
Good point. I should have given Ruddock the nod over Ortiz. Those guys you named were contenders or former-contenders - though they were sliding a bit by the time Ruddock got to them. I guess we'll never know what Ortiz's true ceiling could have been...
I think Norton actually did hold the WBC championship - albeit brieffly. I think Spinks refused to fight Norton as his mandatory and chose to rematch Ali immediately. So he gets removed from consideration. But, yeah, he would have been destroyed by superheavies. Povetkin clearly won against both Chagaev and Chambers. And ultimately the fight with Chambers was not all that close. He did not look good against Huck I've heard all the stories about the Johnson-Ibeabuchi sparring sessions. All I can say is that Ibebuchi never took a step back from Tua in their fight and Tua was connecting with Ibeabuchi so hard he was chipping bone in his own elbow. I don't know how Ibeabuchi would have done against a superheavy with a jab because Ike's legal troubles and mental issues started right after his fight with Tua. He did turn down a fight with Michael Grant, but that seemed to be because he thought Cedric Kushner could get him HBO-televised fights with Bowe or Lewis (both of whom were superheavies with jabs). We'll never know. Originally, I put Ortiz on my list. Ortiz had great potential and it's clear he was getting ducked by the top fighters in 2015-2017. But his resume is pretty thin overall for outright victories - even if he was cheated out of a chance to put Wilder away in their first fight. There have always been allegations about Ortiz using PEDs since forever and his former amateur rival Odlanier Solis remarked on German TV a few years ago "How is Luis so good now? Because I used him like a basketball when we fought our fights."
Odlanier Solis isn't credible. He blew it like none other. As for Norton, I don't consider him to have won a title. He never fought for a vacant title or successfully defended it. He was gifted it before the Holmes fight.
