    punch stat is a joke

what about the 75 % of Leonard's punches that were taken on Hagler's gloves?

that stupid machine cant tell the difference!

    Hagler won the fight 115-113

    get over it

Yes, Ray even said before the Norris fight was at his natural weight and he was happy in his training camp, 154 suite`s Ray`s build, he didn`t look as good at middle and was awful at super middle, also for the Lalonde bout which was fought for the super middle/lightheavy WBC titles he stuffed silver dollars into his pockets so he could put on enough weight at the weigh in.

The best punch Ray ever landed was on Boy Green, it would have flattened Norris and Terry`s chin wasn`t any better than that of Hearns, Tommy took punches from Barkley at light heavy that Norris could never have taken.

making excuse? I am just stating what happened. You Duran fans are so used to making excuses that you think everyone else does that. Ray was not fast enough against Norris, and yet the same year Thomas Hearns beat Virgil Hill a fast light heavyweight who was undefeated and won a decision, which to me solidified his legacy. I thought he should have gotten more credit than he did.

no he did not. That is June of 1981.. Norris was Feb of 1991 and Ray had to move down from those fights with Hagler,Lalonde, Hearns 2 and Duran 3.

Hagler falling for it was his fault. If Ray was a snake that is one thing. Hearns always said when I have to deal with Ray I know I better put on my thinking cap. Well if Hagler didn't then he paid for it. He fell for it. Hearns insulted Hagler and got Hagler motivated in a way Ray never would have or did, and it helped Ray.

I am not sure if I answered this here or somewhere else, but it is always interesting to me. Hagler wanted all the legends to move up and fight him seemingly not really feeling the weight issues were to his advantage, so I would think he would fight Spinks at 175 to test himself like they tested themselves fighting him? But he always acted like if Michael wants to fight him he has to come down to 160.

which could be seen as a negative in saying he knew how to run away from him and not fight.

Marvin won that fight but was shafted. I was around Fort Worth Texas when all this was going on. Leonard was drummed out of Texas for the way he stabbed Don Curry in the back

I don't understand the hate. He made the decision to fight him right handed in the first two rounds. What did Ray do wrong? Even the bs Ray pulls, expect that. Someone said he was a snake, and Ray really is. Even today when he acts all smiley and bs, when Ray is going to fight someone he will knock them out cold if he can. Hagler made a professional mistake and underestimated Ray. Why hold that against Ray? I think with Morales and Barrera or Jones and Toney, they feel they gave it their all and are confortable with the careers. And Ali and Frazier split the fights. Well 1-2. But also, Ray said he was Marvin's friend. The whole thing is just bitterness because Marvin fell for Ray and knows it now.

to an extent yeah. Some guys have more clout and can do that, and Marvin wanted the fight. So did Chad Dawson. And then later they pay. Chad said he could make the weight easily.. But I know it had an effect.

Hagler came out right handed the first two rounds. That was a huge huge mistake. And he came out calm. Ray just sat back and landed a nice punch as he said he would to get respect and he built momentum. Once Marvin switched, Ray had the momentum and was warmed up. I think if Marvin came out lefty and more aggressive (not Hearns aggressive) but just a little more he maybe wins the first round or second and wins the fight by TKO late. Ray was ready to go at the end. Or so it seemed. Maybe he had more than he acted. Donald? Was that a professional advice Donald got from Ray or friendly advice? That is the question which is never clear. Had I adviced Donald. and I am no Leonard, I am just some idiot boxing fan, but still I would have told him stay at welterweight and move up slowly. Don't fight Marvin yet, he is too big. In retrospect we can say Marvin had slipped since the Hearns fight and Donald had as much of a chance as anyone to beat him in 1987.. In 1985 he could not beat Marvin. 1986 when Marvin fought Mugabi? Marvin was beatable there.. That one year off from Hearns to Mugabi really hurt Marvin.
