You might want to rely on Steele as a witness. I don't - and for good reason, given the varying accounts of the fight, for which he can be quoted. Some of his narrative beggars belief:

So, Steele is saying that Hagler had already lost the fight by the middle rounds, because Leonard had been out-landing Hagler at a ratio of 3:1 in those early rounds.

So yes - Steele was right there and yet he can't even recall the fight accurately in the most basic of terms.

Steele scored basically the entire first half for SRL hence his comments. He has never wavered in his belief Ray won comfortably.

He advised Curry not to fight Hagler then stepped in and fought Hagler instead, Ray`s ego was pathetic, but he`s history so he won his case and who cares about Curry anyway, Ray and Hagler were far better than Curry.

Not even Guerra went that far. This and his scoring of both the 8th and the 10th rounds, 'Even', tells me all I need to know. I'll have to rest my case, as far as Mr. Steele is concerned.

Good chat, though. Always a pleasure.

Ok, so he advised Curry not to take a fight that Curry would have lost? Sounds like good advice to me...

Anyone else here who thinks Curry had a mind of his own?

It`s the reason why, he wasn`t loking out for Curry`s best interest, he was only thinking about his own glory.

You do realise that this is a loosely based conclusion, not a fact??

Leonard's decision to challenge Hagler came instantly and he acted on it swiftly. And Hagler would never have chosen a fight with Curry over Leonard. So i don't see what reasons Leonard would have to give Curry dishonest advice.

that's what, the 1000th time you've used that line? and it still isnt funny. maybe next year?

Your humour is as stale and unoriginal as is your favorite cutting edge analysis "Leonard got into Hagler's head"

You never tire of using either

I do like Leonard tho for the reason he never took a fight with anyone he didnt think he could beat

Curry would have beaten Hagler at welterweight.
