Cruiserweight: EVANDER HOLYFIELD, 1986 Super-Middleweight: ROY JONES JR, 1996 Light-Middleweight: THOMAS HEARNS, 1982 Light-Welterweight: AARON PRYOR, 1982 Junior-Lightweight: ALEXIS ARGUELLO, 1979 Junior-Featherweight: WILFREDO GOMEZ, 1978 Junior-Bantamweight: KHAOSAI GALAXY, 1984 Junior-Flyweight: MICHAEL CARBAJAL, 1993 Strawweight: RICARDO LOPEZ, 1993 Opinions?
I agree with it, but you could argue Chiquita Gonzales to be above Carbajal considering he went 2-1 against him, and you could possibly make the case for Johnny Tapia over Khaosai Galaxy, and if you rate quantity close to quality, Calzaghe could be argued above Jones at 168lbs.
Maybe Tapia was better than Galaxy actually. Gonzalez won 2-1 yes, but I think the 1993 Carbajal was better than Gonzalez ever was, so that's why I'd select him for this, it's about the best fighter to fight in the divisions, whose peak was highest, ie the peak of the division. Therefore, no I definitely do not rate quantity anywhere close to quality, or the thread would be most long-standing champion or most defences, not 'best', which is what it is- and 1996 Jones Jr would have annihilated Joe at any point in his career. He was far more talented and generally a far greater boxer.
