Buster Douglas against I forget his name. The fight where he KDed him 3X IIRC with a jab! When has that happened in HWs?
rahman did it as well a couple of times but it's certainly impressive to have that kind of power in the jab
Wasn't aware of that, but who did Rahman do that against? Douglas' opponent IIRC was pretty good at the time and used to spar with Tyson.
Thanks. So what was his name? So awesome, seemed that whenever the jab landed flush, there was an instant disconnect between the guy's brain and his legs. Didn't lose consciousness or such, just the leg connection was interrupted!!!
That was Douglas vs. Mike Williams. Believe Williams was an undefeated prospect at the time and Buster was brought in to lose.
Ken Buchanan Stole the Ali V Bonavena Show by his mobility and peerless Jabbing, when taking on undefeated welterweight Donato Paduarno (?) The ring Magazine likened his display to prime Jim Driscoll.
Real good call on Benvenuti. I think he and Valdez are the most underappreciated and undervalued middles of the last 45 years. Nino was impressive and a very difficult matchup for lots of guys. And it really makes you appreciate King Carlos for the job he did on Benvenuti in his backyard.
But you recall the first time Wlad really showed a great dominate one that really made you take notice? The Schulz fight. Lots of folks were picking their country's favorite and thought Axel would win the fight in Wlad's first step up bout. I knew Wladimir had a good impressive jab going into the fight, but after that fight it was pretty apparent it had been developed into world class. And this guy was going to be a problem for other heavyweights. And it has even evolved since then. Man, that guy sure does work on always making himself better. But that Sculz fight showed a guy keeping an opponent at the final 10% of a stiff jab and it looked like a Liston jab--right down the pipe and not a punch easy to slip and certainly not a punch an opponent was ever going to walk through & so hard it made it impossible to counter.
SRL-Benitez Recently Martinez-Dzinziruk Hearns-Hill Tyson-Biggs Wright-Trinidad I liked Floyd's jabbing against Mosley though I wouldn't call it necessarily a "jabbing clinic"lol
Emile Griffith against Eckard Dagge. Emile rarely threw a right for some reason. Kept the jab in Dagge's face for 15 and was robbed of the decision and his 6th title IMO.
