Calzaghe, the WBO super-middleweight champion for the last 10 years, tests Kessler's 39-fight unbeaten record. Victory would add the WBC and WBA belts to his WBO title and the IBF crown he won when beating Jeff Lacy in 2006. "The best Joe Calzaghe beats anybody in the world and I am going to be at my best," the 35-year-old commented. Over 50,000 are expected to witness the latest chapter in the Calzaghe story at the Millennium Stadium. His unbeaten stretch spans 43 fights, 20 of which have been as WBO champion. Kessler has won 29 of his bouts by knockout but Calzaghe believes he has the necessary capabilities to beat the Dane. "I can adapt my style in any way required and I think Kessler is one-dimensional," he said. "He's a very good European-style fighter and I think his style suits me fine. This content is protected In the build-up to the keenly anticipated showdown, Kessler attempted to ruffle Calzaghe by labelling the Welshman a weak puncher. But Calzaghe retorted: "I'm going to take him to a place he's never been. "I love the fact he says I can't punch. I love that false sense of security he's got that I'm going to smash out of him." Calzaghe is adamant he will not lose focus at any point and said: "I know that if I am not at my best and I do not perform I will lose. "I'm never over-confident. Over-confidence is a weakness because it stops you training as hard as you should. "It has happened to fighters like Naseem Hamed and Lennox Lewis. Complacency beats fighters."
Kessler, prepared to be "Lacyed." Honestly, I will not be surprised if Calz wins by a TKO. He is ready to go to war, and between the fans pushing him and his being pissed at being labeled as a 'weak puncher,' I could see this happening. One thing's for sure -- if Joe does have the opportunity to finish-off Kessler, he will take it.
And if Kessler has the chance to finish off Calzaghe................he'll have a hard time because Calzaghe has always come back strongly when hurt. We've never seen Kessler hurt have we? So we don't know how Kessler will react when Calzaghe hurts him with one of the punches that he thought were only 'slaps'.
The best Calzaghe beats any one in the world? Then why has he only just decided to take on a decent opponent? Nonsense.
What a joke. The best Calzaghe doesn't even fight the top 3 in the world much less beat them. Calzaghe's fans make him look worse by posting all these nuthugger threads about him beating everyone in the world and he's fought one DECENT fighter. NOTE...DECENT...Jeff Lacy.
What the hell are you chatting **** for. Eubank, Reid, Brewer, woodhall, Mitchell, Sheika, Lacy and now Kessler, including 7 former World Champions. If you dont think they are decent opponents then you havent got a ****ing clue.
For someone who calls himself a boxing guru you sure know **** all about your chosen subject. If you think Lacy is the only decent fighter he's beaten then your as dumb as the Americans who picked Lacy to win in the first place.
And ur a hater...JC and MK are two awesome fighters...this will be a boxing fiesta...all these insults have no place here...especially when u dont have the guts to deliver them in person and u r hiding behind a keyboard.
atsch atsch atsch Why do you to hate Calzaghe so much Paul? Did you try and kiss him and he told you to **** off? Did he shag your mum? Mate you need to chill out. And accept that Calzaghe is a great boxer.
Are you 12? I'm not trying to take the **** because lets be honest, your giving it away. I just don't like the idea of insulting somone who's clearly suffering from testosterone poisoning.
