When the fight no longer mattered of course, in 92. This fight did not excite me at all. The timing of it was terrible.

i was asking what is this fight doing coming off so late? This is **** that doesnt matter, trash that sells now because there is nothing better. But that's how Chavez and management did things and they suceeded because of it.

Back in the mid 80s, Hector would have outsped this guy with ease

he couldnt. He didnt have the luxury of waiting out Pernell and paid the price as you saw. JC really went to school that day. I had a feeling he was going to flounder but I couldnt be sure. Seeing him in the Taylor fight, I felt he would do no better with Whitaker. Up till then, that was the only real good fighter I'd seen JC with that wasnt over the hill

Who held the JLW belts, boxrec says Camacho held the WBC, do you know who held the others?.

 

Hector already lost alot of speed by then becoming much slower.

last time he was in peak form was the Davis fight of 87 where he taught Howard what boxing is about. People here at ESB think a couple years dont make no difference but it does.

Junior light was held by Camacho in 83. the other guy, glass chinned Roger mayweather WBA titlist got laid out by Rocky Lockridge in 1 May 84.

Julio picked up his first title going after Hector's leftover WBC title only after he vacated, vs some guy I never heard of by the name of mario martinez

Maybe Duran he fought at that weight for a while before being LW champ (obviously not on achievements). Otherwise its Mayweather followed by Armstrong, Arguello, Saddler, Chavez. Pep also fought allot of fights at the 130 limit

Yeah because Mayweathers resume is much better at 130 than Arguello's. Although different skilwise they are equally effective as well.:huh

 

uh, that would be the Mario Martinez who gave Azumah Nelson hell twice, as well as Fenech once (knocking Fenech down) AFTER Chavez tko'd him in 8. The shame of it is, I'm sure you're aware of this fact but choose to mislead younger and/or inexperienced posters who possibly weren't even born when this all took place. Mario Martinez was well known and better than anybody Camacho beat at the weight.

Chavez's victims at 130: Mario Martinez, Rocky Lockridge, Roger Mayweather, Juan Laporte.

Camacho: Melvin Paul, Greg Coverson, John Montes, Cubanito Perez (decent fighter), Bazooka Limon (used up by then)

Not even close.

Now if you've never heard of Mario Martinez (which I seriously doubt or are you really that ignorant on the matter?), then you damn sure never heard of Paul, Coverson, or Montes.
